All of the Highways I posted earlier are under DOH (Department of Highway)
Now we're entering the Expressway under ETA (Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand). They use blue-colour signage. Si Rat Expressway (2nd-stage Expressway, sector D) http://www.eta.co.th/eng/projects.php?type=15&no=3 It's 6-lane elevated, 38.4 km in total excluding some extensions being contructed. ![]() ![]() Airport Rail Link on the left side ![]() Toll station. looks better than the DOH's ones. ![]()

Incredible! I really didn't know Thailand is so modern also outside Bangkok. In many other countries, traffic os like zero if you leave the capital or the big cities... Cool photos and country :-)

Thailand highways are very attractive they are tourist attraction itself
Also the driving standard is pretty good , I had a good time driving on Thai highways ( with Thai forumer nazrey ) -highways reach all the way to the remotest parts of the country . Thailand is still a lower middle income country on paper , but any tourist visiting Thailand for the first time wud be impressed by its First-world standard of infrastructure

Highway No.1 "Phahonyothin"
"Highway to the north." Length 891 km. Bangkok(Victory Monument) - Chiang Rai(Mae sai,Thai-Myanmar border) Bangkok > Phatumthani > **Ayudthaya >Angthong > Sing buri > Chainat > Uthaithani** > Nakhonsawan(Gateway to the Nothern part of Thailand) > Kamphaeng Phet > Tak > Lampang > Phayao > Chiang Rai **From Ayudthaya to Uthaithani, We will use Hwy. No.32 instead. This review will start from the end of Donmuang Elevated tollway(This tollway start from Dindaeng, near Victory Monument to Rangsit area in Phatumthaini.) The Highway No.1 is below. ![]() This interchange is the joint of Highway No.9 (Bangkok Outer Ring Road East - West) Highway No.1 Highway No.32 (We will use this highway in the section, Ayudthaya - Nakhon Sawan instead of Hwy. No.1) ![]() ![]() ![]() We are now on hwy. No.32 .It has been expanded to 3+1 lanes (Left lane is for motorbike.) ![]() Some section of this highway hasn't been expanded yet. (I took this photo in December 2007.) ![]() Continue... ![]() Before approaching Nakhon Sawan city, turn left to the Nakhonsawan By-pass road. (avoid drive through city centre.) ![]() Then, back to Hwy. No.1 again. From this point,we'll use this highway untill the destination. ![]() Hwy. No.1 has been expanded and developed to be divided highway for 5-6years. ![]() ![]()

![]() Up the hill (I forgot to tell that from Kamphaengphet untill Chiangrai, each city will be far away from each other so, the driver have to make sure that the petrol in the tank is enough before leaving each city.) ![]() ![]() ![]() Lampang City. Turn left for Chiang mai. Hwy. No.11 is from Sing buri to Chiang mai, tourist city. (Many drivers still use Hwy. No.11 instead of Hwy No.1 because the distance of driving is shorter, especially for truck drivers. But some of its sections still hasn't been expanded yet, so it was really dangerous for beginner driver.) ![]() The city after Lampang is Phayao. Phayao used to be a district of Chiangrai provience. Because of the size of the town and a very far distance from Chiangrai city, it has been upgraded to be a provience. ![]() ![]()
