That's the kind of hideous design that makes people afraid of building skyscrapers.

I don't think its hideous, it's a nice concept and design, the problem is that it doesn't integrate with its surroundings too well. However in another location or if the street level was better this could be fantastic addition to Berlin.

No one would ever build a piece of junk like that in the center of Berlin, ja.

Germans generally like their highrises or skyscrapers a little more understated/traditional. Something like this wouldn't be appropriate at all. Maybe for Dubai or some Asian boom city. Even most of London's new towers would never be built in Germany. Too flashy and extraordinary.

The classyness of Potsdamer Platz ist just about right for German eyes.
Some extravagant highlights (such as the floating Sony Center roof) and else really neat timeless and beautiful designs.

I'm rooting for a similar development around Alexanderplatz.

I think the design is awesome. Obviously the city centre isn't the right place but somewhere out of town as a solitaire next to the autobahn would be great

I'm the same way. Maybe that's the German in me speaking. I like buildings that make me feel something but these flashy, weird-looking starchitectural buildings don't make me feel good. They just make me annoyed and disappointed. I compare it to clothes. If you want to look good, do you dress like Lady Gaga or do you wear something stylish but not over-the-top? To me, these buildings are all Lady Gaga buildings. Maybe we should start calling it Gagaism.

It looks like a giant Dollar sign to me, so yeah, it would fit Dubai pretty well, but not berlin.

I think AlexanderPlatz deserves something better... This design has nothing interesting... Just another international style modern building

Actually it's not at the Alex and rather part of a hidden area that you'd hardly pass by as a visitor of the city.

Hi I am visiting your city for 3 days I was wondering from an architecturial point of view just so I know where to walk which are the top 5 neighborhoods for both modern and old architecture thank you. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Old architecture you can see "Unter den Linden" and @ different other places, "Schloss Charlottenburg", you also have to go to Potsdam!

More "old architecture" you can find also here. Modern architecture @ Potsdamer Platz, "Jüdisches Museum", etc...

The biomorphic design looks great! Hope it gets realized, though it seems unlikely. They could've skipped the parrots though.
