Geez, Ludi, why do you insist on transferring all the bigger/more interesting projects out of this thread? This thread is THE go to thread for everyone interested in Berlin. They will look here first...but what they see here is only small residential projects. Actually really boring after a while. And like PortoNuts, they'll ask themselves, if they've landed in the Wanne-Eickel thread by mistake. All the other threads in the City/Metro Compilation forums do update about all the projects in a city. Why is this thread so over complicated? :/

That's right. Big projects in most cities are updated in the respective thread and the general thread as well. I'm not saying if it's good or bad but it's the way it works with most cities.

Thread is okay. All big projects are in here as well as the small. If smaller residential projects disturb it is maybe a solution to summarisze smaller once each month in one comment, so the bigger ones would get more room. But I would not exclude them here, since smaller projects in mass also do their best to change Berlins overall shape

I love the smaller projects. It's something that makes the Berlin thread so much better than most other threads in this part of the forum where only the big projects are posted. I wish more threads here would include the smaller projects of the respective cities.

I'm all for including small projects as well. Keep going with that as usual!

But more big project updates are very welcome, too. We can all support this thread with posting these.

Everytime I check Google Earth over Berlin I keep thinking what a great opportunity would it be to convert the main Tempelhof runway into a boulevard lined up with skyscrapers and green space covering the rest of the former airport, including some >300m thing at the very end of such boulevard.

They could even build a short tramway between U-Bahn stations Leinerstraße and Tempelholf to provide transportation through this boulevard. They could then invite some of the World most famous architects to design each a skyscraper for the area.

Great idea, but we would still have the same problem with these scrapers that prevent all those proposals for Alexanderplatz from happening...

Are property prices in Berlin still much lower than in the rest of Germany?

No, not really anymore. In the last 10 years the prices started aligning with the German average faster and faster and in recent years the prices already climbed above the German average.
Places like Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf or Berlin Mitte (where the above mentioned Kronprinzengärten are located) are already as expensive, as for example Munich's centre. More and more projects are especially catering to the luxury segment. Purchasing property in Berlin is more popular than ever.

Munich is still the most expensive property market in the country, right?

Okay, then I'll resurrect this sad excuse of a general update thread myself:

In the City West on Breitscheidplatz a heritage protected building complex of the 50s including a 50s cinema palace is being refurbished. Here some pics by fellow forumer Ludi:

Back in the 50s and 60s the Zoo Palast was THE cinema palace of Berlin, where numerous national and international premieres took place. Now they want to continue that tradition.
Several halls, each one with a different theme, equipped with top of the class technology, will offer one of the greatest cinema experiences in the world. Here a first look in some the cinema halls:

The whole complex will feature a large, publicly open terrace, where people will have a great view over Berlin's famous Zoo and the Tiergarten.

The reconstruction of Berlin's City Palace or Humboldt-Forum is right on schedule.
In the news was a first look inside the halls and basements of the building. (Unfortunately only in German though.)

Berlin's next highrise, the Upper West, right next to the Waldorff-Astoria tower, which opened last year, is on it's way too:
