Another Tempelhof proposal - Apartment Skyscrapers included

A proposal for some "Central Park" like redesign of the Tempelhof field and residential vertical forest towers at its edges - Germania much?

It was presented today by architect Stephan Braunfels.

Tempelhof isn´t central and Berlin allready has a "central park", the Tiergarten. Also, Berlin doesn´t need another "planned" city centre, there´s already the Alexanderplatz.

Why not use the Tempelhof field for something where there could be a realistic demand, like a really big amusement park. That would add much to Berlin as a tourist destination.

Sure, that's pretty much what I said here.

But it's important Berlin takes more consideration for this place. In that regard, we can be somewhat lucky the public vote on Tempelhof of last weekend was against any construction for now.

I'm all for an amusement park somewhere, but it doesn't have to be as central as Tempelhof (because for such a park it is). Development area is also rather limited there. Such a park should be outside the urban areas where there's loads of space. Somewhere close to the BER airport probably.

Amusement parks with "on foot access" from the city side can have very much charm. Think of the "Tivoli" in Copenhagen. It is situated on an area much smaller than the Tempelhof field.

Tivoli is right next to the Main Station and the City Hall of Copenhagen. A family park like that could have a place easily on some brownfield in Mitte, but I wasn't expecting that you have such a tiny scale in mind.

Something that is Vienna-Prater-sized would be more suitable in a place like Tempelhof, but it could also be located in Friedrichshain or Mitte where there's still loads of space.

Still, the Tivoli doesn´t feel that tiny, meaning such park require less space than one might oft think. Thus, Tempelhof could house a really big one, especially if the parking problem is solved through parkinghouses / -garages in the vicinity.

Very nice concept for the place by the way. It's a bonus the view of the Potsdamer Platz buildings in the background. I like the Krausenblock concept too (thread by Ludi: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1603270). Wow, so many (interesting and beautiful) things going on in Berlin ...

Interesting building, this AOK. Nice details of façade.

The project looks cool too!

The style of that building is called Brick Expressionism. It originated in Northern Germany in the 1920s and you can find hundreds such powerful and artsy structures in Berlin, Hamburg and other places.

^ I really like this one. Early modern with a tad of refined classical. Nöfer is getting bigger with the projects (see Max&Moritz residential towers as well) - and the "New Berlin Style" clearly gets more attention.

Steel Bridge Europacity Berlin-Moabit/Mitte

Another neat move towards a "New Berlin Style" combining classical & modern in a distinct way:

Pedestrian Bridge EuropaCity | Berlin-Mitte & Moabit connection

Construction finished: By the end of 2017
58m long, 4m wide; spanning "Schifffahrtskanal"
Design by: Friedrich Ludewig (ACME, London-based office)
