This is a very attractive, handsome and elegant design. It reminds me of the sophistication and simplicity of the 1920s and early 1930s.

Berlin will be a fascinating place to visit for many years as it is changing and growing so rapidly. Very dynamic.

One positive aspect of Berlin that is rarely mentioned, but it impressed me very much: the air quality. It is clean and bright.

Cant help but get the feeling of a Marbella/Tenerife/etc. apartment or resort from the above pics minus the pool and hot weather? I'm not sure it works for me.

^ That must be intended. A very bad style in my view. Very annoying that it has to continue. When the first of these buildings was erected nobody would buy a flat. Why didn't they learn from that?

all appartments have been soled... And I love this style and new part of the Luisencity.

..the fountain maybe is too much, but Kocher Architects and "die neue Mitte" with the dark clinker bricks and the wine-red wooden windows I love!

too much disneyland.. especially the windows and the fountain.
Lets see how it looks with some patina in a few years.

The Fellini Residences don't really feel like a mediterranean resort to me, but rather like some Uptown Manhattan apartment block. Many of such open courtyards could be found in pre-war Berlin, too. I think it looks great in person. It could need some patina and greenery indeed, but the years will bring 'em on. It's so much better than any of these trying-so-hard exposed concrete boxes with narrow randomly puzzled windows.

(New) Classical architecture will never be out of fashion, that's guaranteed. It's like gold in the bank, always precious and a safe bet.

New appartment Witzlebenstrasse 3 - Berlin Lake Suites

Here the construct new appartment.
Looks bether then before, but next to this two nice historical facades little bit boring.

On the right side you can see the old "Reichskriegsgericht" / "Imperical War Court"...

^ That one really doesn't integrate well, except its colours. It should pay more respect to its surroundings, with a proper roof and facade structure. A slightly neoclassical look would have been so much better there. I'm really beginning to miss postmodernism so badly.

In case you wondered about this statement... Here we have an example of such a Cour d'Honneur in Charlottenburg's Witzlebenstrasse:

There certainly is room for improvement, but I don't think it's that bad at all. The biggest issues for me are the somewhat tacky balustrades and the upper setbacked storey. It still adds a lot more vibe than any of those sloppy bare concrete facades that show no effort or affection at all.

A video about The Factory

Berlin has a reputation as European's hotspot for internet start-ups, and that's been drawing many IT professionals from abroad. But from an international perspective, investors aren't yet seeing high enough returns from Berlin-based internet firms. Simon Schaefer, the visionary behind Berlin's start-up campus The Factory, is aiming to change that.

The Berlin city council produced three videos to inform about some current developments (in English):

Europa City: development for a new city quarter north of the central station has only just started:

Tegel Airport: a new science campus is planned here after the closure of the airport:

Gleisdreieck Park: a new park on a former railway site:
