Highway 35 is a highway in south-central Israel. It runs roughly from west to east. It begins in Ashkelon, passes through the Lakhish region and Kiryat Gat, crosses the Green Line and terminates at a junction with Highway 60 near Hebron. Highway 35 is about 58 km long.

Hi all,

Since I've become more of a TrainUser than a RoadUser recently, I haven't had much of a chance to take pictures of any more roads.

However, my train to work crosses Road 1 (three times) and Road 6, and also goes down the middle of Road 1 and Road 20 (the Ayalon freeway), as well as the Road 431 construction site and down the middle of the partially open urban section of Road 431 into Modiin.

All of the following pictures were taken out of the window of a train with a cellphone camera, so please excuse the less-than-perfect quality.

Just outside Ben-Gurion Airport, the train crosses Road 1 at the Ben-Gurion Interchange:

Here you see both Road 1 (on the left) and the Motorway spur into the airport:

Road 1:

On the right you can see the enormous rail bridge into Ben-Gurion Airport as we cross Road 1.

Crossing Road 6 near Ramle:

The still-under-construction Anabe Interchange - Road 1 meets Road 431 just outside Modiin:

This bridge belongs to the urban section of Road 431, which goes into Modiin. The is a second bridge currently under construction on the other side of the railway line, which will eventually run between the two carriageways:

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that I've finally got around to opening a thread on Israeli railways in the railway forum.

Trains have occasionally cropped up in this thread; please use the new thread to discuss Israeli railways from now on.

the jerusalem roads look amazing, and they will look more amazing when all the mountains are covered by trees, great work by the JNF!

Found this really good video of driving in Israel, around the city of Haifa. I think it's a really good one. Don't mind the "chaos" labels in the video (I personally don't see anything too chaotic there, although of course Israel is crowded and drivers are somewhat aggressive).

Anyone who thinks that that's chaos has obviously led a rather sheltered life . . .

I couldn't find an official answer to this so I measured them on an online map.

The answer I reached was 270km, detailed as follows, and measuring only true motorways:

Road 6 - 106km
Road 1 - 38 km
Road 7 - 7 km
Road 20 (Tel Aviv's Ayalon Freeway)- 27 km
Road 2 - 41 km
Road 5 - 20 km
Road 4 - 27 km.
Road 22 (in Haifa)- 5km.

In the nearish future a couple of new roads are to open, most notably Road 431 from Modiin to Rishon Lezion, which I assume will be classed as a full motorway, as well as a couple of other east-west highways north and south of the Dan Region (i.e. the Tel Aviv metropolitan area). Road 6 is under construction both northwards and southwards. Bear in mind that this is a tiny and very narrow country, so we are never going to have thousands of kms of motorways.

Hehe, that's interesting indeed. I'd like to mention that I didn't take this photo though. It was taken by a forumer from the Israeli section.

Hi all,

For anyone who wants to see detailed online roadmaps of Israel, Google Maps (maps.google.com) finally covers Israel properly.

It is by no means the only online map of Israel, or even the best one, but it is the only one I know of that isn't only in Hebrew. Road numbers appear with their proper colour-coded symbols, but city street names are missing as of now.

Thanks for that, amazing!!! I was just very recently wondering why Israel isn't covered (whereas its neighbours are), and now it's there and extremely detailed Even has proper interchanges, one-way streets, and gas stations marked. Hopefully street names follow soon.

I love the road numbers too, they actually used the real route markers.

Since Israel has a small land area, what is the longest single trip one can make in terms of kilometers and hours?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.
