And as for a serious answer, they usually come from Arab villages, of which there are many in the north. They are supposed to graze on designated land, but sometimes they break loose.

Can't they just fence-off the road, for example by putting additional noise-aborbers? I find it surprising that cows can actually jump over crash barriers.

The road in the pictures is a regular street, it's not a motorway (or anything near).

what highway?!

actually there are not many motorways considered as highways by all means. There are only 8 declared highways in Israel;few more to be opened or u/c.
Maximum speed limit of 90km/h except like two xceptional
cases of 100/110 km/h of special permit.

You mean the other way around Despite variation of the use of the term, highway = road, motorway = high-speed road.

Now that is cool

And it appears that every street name in the country appears there, in English, unlike on Google Maps, where they only appear in Hebrew.

Wow, even driving directions work perfectly in Israel in the English Google Maps, very nice... although they've misspelled the name of the town where I lived It even has house numbers. I'm really impressed

I can't believe that's a real town name
I lived in Nazareth Illit, but they spelled it Nazareth Iliit. Small mistake, but affects directions, although it seems that with the street name it still works with the correct spelling, but if I only type the name of the town, it doesn't.

Hi all,

The western section of Road 431, from the Ayalon Highway (Road 20) to the Rishonim Interchange at Rishon Lezion, opened today. So, as of today, we have a new motorway

The rest of the road, as far as Modiin, is supposed to open in January, AFAIK.

I see the construction of the urban section of the road, into Modiin, every day from the train. They seem to be building about 10 bridges all at once, both for the new carriageway itself, and also at the link between the road and the Anabe Interchange, where the road meets Road 1. The railway line will run between the two carriageways.

Hi all,

I drove to Haifa yesterday and found out a couple of interesting things:

- Road 6 between the Ben Shemen and Eyal interchanges is being widened to three lanes in each direction. The work is being done on its very wide central reserve and so does not interfere with traffic too much, although in some places the traffic drives on the hard shoulders.

- Road 2 between Hadera and Haifa has lost its motorway classification. There are no motorway signs, and the new interchange at Or Akiva (just north of Caesarea) has green signage. I asked on a local forum and was told that this has in fact been the case for some time, and that the reason was the poor state of the hard shoulders on some parts of the road.
The road has been comprehensively renovated recently, and is now in very good condition, so I wonder whether it might be reclassified as a motorway some time in the future. Certainly I was unable to see anything that obviously prevented it.

Why would Highway 2 have green signage? Don't all national highways have blue or red signs?
