That is the 'brown' lower apartments block of the towers which shall all join up, though will be above ground, i.e you could be standing in Bath Lane and can look straight through the site and on to the canal. They'll include entrances to the riverside for the public and private places from Bath Lane-this is all explained in the design brief of the first 2 towers. What I've described can be seen below:

I can now see from the pictures the gaps between the buildings on the ground floor, but I didn’t realise that the building were going too linked.

I guess that they will need to build this into the 2nd tower, which will ensure that they will have to build the hotel tower, or be left with a large hole in the wall!!

I think they will start the hotel tower before the other two towers are complete, or it would be difficult to sell the residential units with the prospect of the future build disruption ahead.

Providing they have the funding in place, and a hotel operator signed up, it would make sense to start whilst the builders with the required equipment / skills are on site.

So I’m hoping for the first two towers to start in Jan / Feb 08 with the hotel tower starting end of 08 beginning of 09.

I've read (probably on the original Leicester thread) that they were planning to get No1 Westbridge up and running first, but I sincerely hope not as that would be pushing the timescale close to the 3-year limit for developments to commence. In any case I hope it starts in 2008 at the latest .. can't wait

Kurt, I hope so and what you say makes sense; anyhow the first two towers can act as a showcase for what's to come with the larger more prestigious tower.

I wasn't aware of the link with all the three towers until recently too, however I guessed this would be the case as there is so little room between each of the towers, therefore maximising the amount of buiding by linking all three together.

I think the title "No1 Westbridge" encompasses both of the small towers.

I think it would be a developmental suicide if the largest tower wasn't to start soon, especially with all the interest in that area; Blackfriars, St Augustine's, Frog Island, Sanvey Gate/Northgate Street, etc.

We must also remember that the Frog Island, etc masterplan is to be announced soon.
