Orlando-- Downtown Establishments
Retail, restaurant, bar, nightclub, museum, art gallery, etc.
This thread will showcase info and photos of the above mentioned categories of establishments. Anyone with any photos or info please feel free to post em. It is no secret that downtown Orlando is and always has been a happening place. 1998 Rolling Stone issue featured Orlando expose billing it as a "rave" capital of sorts, then Mayor Hood made bars and clubs close at 2 a.m. There was a crackdown on extasy in Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle at that time. Charles Barkley threw a patron thru a Rosie O'Grady's plate glass window back then as well. Club Paris opened up a few years back only to have Paris skip out on the opening night ceremony. Transcontinental moved downtown to CSS 2 years ago only to end up Filing and have Pearlman live out Midnight Express. The Citrus Bowl Parade rolls thru there every year; the Orange drops New Years Eve (or used to), and fireworks adorn Lake Eola every major holiday where gunpower igniting is expected. My next post(s) will start a short list of establishments downtown of all categories. Last edited by jzquince69; August 2nd, 2007 at 12:52 AM. |

I used to 4th of July over Lake Eola every year.
Some of other favorites from back in my day, don't know if they're still around - Sapphire Supper Club Wall Street Plaza Free concerts at Church Street - Donovan, Poco, Arlo Guthrie There was also a brick building on Orange, 3 or 4 stories. Pretty easy roof access if you knew where to look. The Magic! To a lesser extent the Predators. |

I used to love the little bar underneath Post Parkside. We used to meet there for happy hours after works. It was a cozy/eclectic place. I think it is no longer open.

Recently, at 44 E. Central, that urban foodcourt opened up with three establishments inside: City Java, O'Naturals (sandwich shop), and Haagen-Dazs, right at the corner of Court & Central... open 'till 3:00 am on Friday & Saturday nights.
