Notes:
The former Boots HQ is set to become one of the largest regeneration projects in the country.
The Eastside City Development site is a 42 Acre site with almost 3 million sq ft (270,000 sq m)
of high-quality, and innovative mixed use space. The site will become Nottingham’s Business
Quarters with 1.5 million sqft of new office space. There will also be 1.5m sqft of stylish new
homes, shops, bars, restaurants, car parking and leisure facilities. The total development is
valued at Ģ900m. The project will have an extremely big impact on the economy of Nottingham.

All buildings (apart from the listed warehouse buildings) have been demolished in preparation
for construction. Construction was expected to start in 2005 however because of the delays
construction is not expect to start until towards the end of this year

Rising architect Thomas Heatherwick has unveiled his landscape plans for the water feature
within the eastside. This area will be one of the most impressive public spaces in the country.
The regeneration plans also include a number of other public areas.

This will be the first phase of the plans for Eastside and City. Future plans include the
redevelopment of Sneinton market and also the bus stations and other buildings across
from the National Ice Arena.

Current Status:
Demolition has taken place to prepare the site for the first phases. The plans have been approved
in principle however the City Council and Developers are currently negotiating a section 106
agreement. Negotiations have been taking place for a year now however the council has informed
us that an agreement is imminent. We could see work on the first phase of the project begin at
this end of this year or early 2008.

This project is nothing but class. Its been in planning for the last 6 years... council. As I said before... I spoke with Cheif of Planning for Notts City Council who told me they are close to reaching section 106 agreements and that we should see the first lot of activity (since the demolition) begin soon!

One more thing before I let the dicussions begin...

Compare these two pictures... You can see clearly what they're going to do to the great northern warehouse... This is an excellent restoration.

That'd be nice to see. The view from Colwick is mainly dominated by the incinerator at the moment.
With this, Chek Whyte and the incinerator refurb that has been designed the view will improve dramatically.

Heres the Incinerator plans again... does the incinerator come under eastside or waterside?

By the way... I noticed castle college have brought the car showroom on the last picture. It dosnt seem like they're planning on refurbing it yet. However, i'll have to check this out because castle college in general are building and refurbing alot of they're current stuff.

The incinerator refurb still looks pretty ugly but it's a huge improvement to how it currently is.
New College Nottingham were proposing to buy the old Ford dealership off London Road aswell to relocate Basford Hall. It's the one with the arched entrance and that green dome building. It might be the same one as in the picture above.

Construction phases for Eastside... If you look at the last phase you will see the plans to also transform the BBC and EMDA plot.

That looks like its gonna be a really impressive project when it gets underway. The incinerator looks much better with the new plans, but its a shame it has to stay.

I am really surprised they are planning to redevelop the BBC/EMDA site. Those buildings are not that old are they?

A friend of mine who knows someone, (lol, sorry have to keep to it vague) says that Shell are retaining ownership of the site on the roundabout, and plan to redevelop it. They also own the land behind, and they want to build a landmark petrol station (lol, i knw..i laughed as well) which would be their biggest in the UK. They want the canopy over the pumps to look like a large shell, that would be lit up and tilted so you could see it down London Road. No renders and its all still early stages so far as i can tell

haaa are you being forreal!!?? A "Landmark Petrol Station" lol?? Well.. thats not what I had in mind? How do you create a landmark petrol station? This idea sees crazy... wouldn't it make more sense for shell to sell the land.. they'd get quite a big for that land.. and besides... it would cost the a ton to create a "Landmark" petrol station lol...

Then again...thats the last of the petrol stations in town isnt it?

lol, well yea thats what i thought when i originally heard the idea, but there are actually almost no petrol stations left in town now. Its ok if ure going out to asda or sainsburys etc, but apart from that, theres barely any that side of town. I guess if they really want to stay, then i welcome the development!

What happened to the petrol station near Marco Island? Has it closed?
The shell garage is good as it's open 24 hrs and it's always busy. A groovy petrol staton might look quite good.
