Premier Brumby on the right track?
Looks like Brumby will be a lot different to Bracks.Very pro development.
Blueprint to guide city's growth Paul Austin August 3, 2007 PREMIER John Brumby has created a new department to protect Melbourne's "liveability" and expanded another to boost preschool education as he reshapes the State Government for the post-Bracks era. Justin Madden will run the new Department of Planning and Community Development, with a brief to ensure that the city's outer suburbs can cope with increased development as the city attracts 1000 new residents a week. |

Improved standard of development and provision of services in new suburbs has always been a part of Melbourne 2030.

Brumby is hot air. You will miss Bracks - he was a good Premier.

I disagree. To me, Brumby has the air of a hardass about him, and in comparison Bracks comes off as a fairly mushy populist.
That's not to say Brumby will necessarily be fantastic on this issue, but he's likely to kick more heads. To me that's a good thing. |

Bracks was a fantastic premier and before he left he must have given the green light to CUB and SAMA, two of the biggest projects in the state's history. Im sure Brumby will also be awesome (and hopefuly will help push along prima and power station).

I liked Bracks but as for Brumby......he's enough to make me vote Liberal. Now keep in mind I'm in my late 30's here so I tend to associate him with early 90's Victoria and the whole Joan Kirner era. It wasn't a fun time.

. I agree to a point that there is an association with those bleak times which is probably unfair but hard to shake. I do recall however he did a few things back then to give off an 'I'm with it' vibe. Time with be the judge as always.

I wish Kennet came back. He had a can do attitude. Maybe a little arrogant but hey.
