Construction Act brings Fehmarn tunnel civil works closer
29 Apr 2015

At 18 km, the Fehmarn Belt tunnel is likely to be the world's longest underwater combined road and rail tunnel when it opens in 2021

DENMARK: Construction of the Fehmarn Belt fixed link road and railway tunnel moved a step closer on April 28 when the Danish parliament adopted the proposed Construction Act for the project.

The fixed link will comprise an 18 km immersed tube tunnel between Rødbyhavn on Lolland and Puttgarden on the German island of Fehmarn. The project also covers upgrading, double-tracking and electrification of the railway between Rødbyhavn and Ringsted, to permit operation at up to 200 km/h with ETCS Level 2. Upon completion of the tunnel and surface works, scheduled for 2021, the journey time for København – Hamburg passenger trains will be reduced to around 2 h from the current 4 h 30 min. The overall budget stands at €5·5bn

Banedanmark selects electrification contractor
18 May 2015

DENMARK: Infrastructure manager Banedanmark announced on May 18 that it had selected a joint venture of Per Aarsleff A/S, Siemens A/S and Siemens AG as preferred bidder to undertake the first phase of its national 25 kV 50 Hz electrification programme.

Final negotiations are now underway, with a view to the contract being finalised by the end of the month.

Banedanmark CEO Jesper Hansen said the infrastructure manager had received four strong bids, which were evaluated using criteria which balanced price against the technical offer and the ability to complete the project on time with as little disruption to passengers as possible

I went on a little bike trip (as also seen in the danish motorway thread), The camera on my Lumia 1020 decided to make fun with me so I didn´t get any of the action around Køge Nord but alot was happening.

But here is what I got.

Here at Karlslunde Mosevej they have put some markers up where the railwaybridge will be located.

Here we are at the intersection between Taastrupvej, Silovej and Cementvej in Solrød Strand.

Cementvej will be moved a little bit north and a new roundabout will be build just north of the intersection.

This way they can build the railway bridge over the new cementvej without disrupting the traffic.

The crossing of Taastrupvej just south of the intersection will be a little bit more difficult because the road can´t be moved.

Notice that the people sitting on the first floor of the Mcdonalds restaurant will have the trains almost outside their window.

DSB to withdraw ICE-TD fleet as DB terminates lease
Monday, June 01, 2015

GERMAN Rail (DB) has decided to terminate the lease on the fleet of 13 class 605 ICE-TD inter-city DMUs used by Danish State Railways (DSB) on Eurocity services from Hamburg to Copenhagen and Aarhus

These trains were built in 1999-2000 but removed from regular use in Germany around 2003, although some were reactivated during the Football World Cup in Germany in 2006. DB started to lease some of the trains to DSB in 2007 for services between Germany and Denmark.

However, DB will terminate the lease on the trains early in December 2016, despite recently agreeing to extend the contract until 2021

The Egedesvej bridge is done.

When done this will be the access to Køge Nord station from the motorway.

Looking north.

Looking south towards Køge Nord station.
As the bycycle path it is located on the northern part of the bridge its hard to get pictures of the station but I´ll try to get pictures from that side on a time when there´s few cars.

Motorring 4 will be closed on the northern direction this Friday from 19:00 to Monday at 06:00 in order to build a part of the 512 meters long railway bridge that will be used for the Copenhagen Ringsted high speed railline.

The part of the bridge that spans the southern lanes part will be constructed later in July.

A few hundred meters along the line, looking in the same direction, a view of the point where the tunnel under the green area by Kulbanevej starts.

and from the same position looking south. This is the cut and cover tunnel section and when finished there will be a park on top.

A couple of kilometres further out the cut and cover tunnel alongside the motorway under Construction. Seen from Hvidovrevej.
Remember how they had to shave the last flat in each of the blocks seen above to make room for the tunnel.

What a shame Alstom won that contract. The Lint is like a shitty version of the Desiro

I disagree.

The latest LINT I've been in, run by DB Regio under the 'vareo' brand in the area around Cologne, is pretty good. Pretty much on par with a Desiro, not worse. Not better either.
