EDIRNE - Small Thracian City
the city is situated in Thrace so i want to share it with you too.
Edirne is a city in Thrace, the westernmost part of Turkey, close to the borders with Greece and Bulgaria. Edirne is the capital of Edirne Province (Turkish Thrace) and its estimated population in 2002 was 128,400, up from 119,298 in 2000. enjoy to this Thracian gem                                     .JPG)

 i m glad you enjoyed the pics. i know its Bulgarian name too by the way almost half of the popualtion of Edirne is Turks from Bulgaria.

Looks nice . The bridge looks like one in Visegrad .
This city I guess is famous for one big mosque . In Serbian it is called Jedrene and in Greek it's Adrianoupolis. It's strange to see that Turkish cities also get Christmas street decoration . |

Isn't there also an Albanian minority there?? I know thats where Fan Noli lived for a while (you probably don't know who he is anyway...he founded the Albanian orthodox Church)...and from what I know some 30,000 Orthodox Albanians that used to live there now live across the border in Greece (population exchange in the 20s). I would assume there's still some Muslim Albs left there??

Here is the Bulgarian church. its name is Sveti Georgi... built in 1880, restored with the help of Edirne artisans...
