they not urban photos, stop cherry pucking nottinghams best buildings and giving the rest of the forum false propaganda.
What about sneinton dale, st anns, meadoiws bridgeway shopping precint, top valleys little bosnia, raymede drive in bestwood, radford road, and shots round radfords john carol center. Now thats nottingham real urban... You lot make oiut nottingham compteting with manhatten or chicago  |

I beg to differ actually, looking at the photos, I would say that Danz has included pretty much all of Nottingham City centre in one for or another. I dont remember the suburbs of manhatten or chicago ever making it into any major urban photography exhibitions! I think the last three photos on here show quite well the urban sprawl of nottingham, regardless if it is the high-rise city centre or the low density peripheral housing. If you look through the Nottingham forum (the one numbering 85 odd pages) you will find plenty of examples of photos of these areas. Its called showcasing, not cherry picking.

Lets be honest, already nottinghams nightlife his gone and its reputation has deminished. Granted it pulls iot weight for shopping, but thats only because leicester and derby in particular have not been pulling theres. The eagle center, shires extention and sheffields moor and NRQ will do untold damage to your retail. Please dont preach that the bland trnity quarter, and the the dubiously aproved braodmarsh center, which has had more delays than thmans the tank engine will solve the problems. Im willing to bet with you, that nottingham will be out of the top ten shopping destinations, by autumn next year... |

I love this old competitive crap that comes out every now and again on these forums. Why do u believe that Nottingham is so desperatly in competition with the rest of the East Midlands? I think we have proved for a good few centuries that all three cities can live and be sucessful side by side.

No, Nottingham is not the capital of the world, I cannot think of anyone stupid enough who would claim such a fact. But there are a few other facts I would like to draw your attention to: 1) The Nottingham population is the highest of the cities in the East Mids, 666,358 according to 2001 figures. 2) The city is named by the goverment as a Core City and also a designated City of Science. 3) The city is experiencing unprecedented growth and investment, already over the Ģ1billion mark with developments underway/completed 4) The city has two internationally recognised award winning universities, one of which was number 1 in the UK(06/07) 5) The city is having a Ģ4.5million investement in Ministry of Sound Gatecrasher, only the 3rd in the UK. It also has statistically the most bars and restaurants per square mile of any place outside london..(not really a dead nightlife i wouldnt say) 6) The city is at the forefront of education, having been chosen by central government to trial new qualifications and the new city academy schemes. 7) The cities shopping will not slip. The city centre floorspace has seen a 28% increase over the last few years, and will eventually be at 4.8million square feet. 8) We are home to the National Watersports centre, National Ice Arena, Government Agency for the East Midlands and the National Centre for crime and punishment These along with many other points, should u wish me to make them, make your case for Nottingham being dead, crime ridden and drab pretty pathetic really

The photos are excellent. I have been planning to start something off for Leicester like this. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to create a similar thread title, just to make things less confusing for readers.

Id be really interested to see Leicester's photos Lears. I have visited a few times, but not really seen the city properly. Was looking at the Shires thread, the John Lewis store looks like its gonna be a real statement when its done. Is that gonna be on the main ringroad? The refurb of the existing mall looked pretty good, goes to show aethetics can go a long way.
