This is an 1891 sketch of the former All Saint's Brewery
http://www.histman.co.uk/brewers/pages/allsaints91.html In a right state nowadays, but even though these pictures don't show it - there is still potential for a courtyard development similar to St Martin's Square... http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/...ight=leicester |

I have seen 18th century cowsheds in better condition that these buildings and if you had seen any my previous posts you will have noted that I constantly lament the destruction of Leicester's heritage. These buildings have been in a state of utter shiteness for many many years, there is nothing the save. |

Upbeat article on Leicester in today's Times
http://property.timesonline.co.uk/to...cle5096688.ece I like this quote "Critics may say that Leicester is Nottingham's ugly sister, but that is a bit out of date. Leicester may not be as pretty - yet - but it doesn't have its sibling's reputation for gun crime either." |

Knock that old brewery down please! And replace it with something that is equally as wonderful as the new JL or CDL buildings. I am one for keeping historic buildings, but this is a run down out building.

"These were the results of a survey that led to the city rebranding itself “One Leicester” - the No1 city in the East Midlands."

Again we are getting into pointless squabbles over silly things.
I think it's great that Leicester is getting the positive recognition it deserves on a national level, despite what certain people think.

Pictures of Leicester's 'Heritage' site
![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway who said anything about squabbling. We (Leicester forumers) didn't write the Times article and, that same article described us as the ugly sister. Funny how our friends up the A46 get jumpy about other elements in the piece? |

I would not call that heritage, its a few fairly unexciting 19th century buildings. The Central Station in the distance is far more important from a heritage point of view.
Just because it was built in the 19th century doesn't mean its an important bit of heritage. Alot of Victorian architecture was pretty boring. As for the Leicester Vs Nottingham debate well it means very little to me, its a known fact that Derby is better ![]() On a more serious note I agree Leicester is getting deserved recognition, the Curve and Highcross seem very impressive developments architecturally speaking. Its a shame that there is bias towards smaller cities like Derby which would appreciate a nice dollop of arts council funding for a architecturally amazing arts building rather then a nationally criticised 'waste of money' that is QUAD

Probably a low-res cameraphone, not everyone is daft like me to use Digital SLR's to take photos!
