This, however, wasn't planned when the interchange was designed.

I think the one in Effretikon is also just an over-engineered exit.

I have just discovered that ASTRA plans a third Belchen tunnel (3.2 km), to be used for southbound traffic to be opened in 2018. Then the existing northbound tunnel will be refurbished and the central tunnel used as a service/safety tunnel. However as the northbound carriageway climbing to the tunnel has 3 lanes I'm sure the final layout will be 2+1+2 or similar.

See http://www.belchentunnel.ch/

And http://www.soaktuell.ch/index.php?pa...nelroehre_2667

Meanwhile 68.000 citizens have signed a petition against the second Gotthard tunnel. This petition doesn't have a legal value but shows that opponents will certainly find enough signatures to start a referendum.

The snow mostly disappeared north of the tunnel, and entirely south of it, just 3 days later.

I have a question: can Swiss driving tests be taken in Romansh?

I think only in German, French or Italian. Even on the website of the Strassenverkehrsamt Graubünden I can't find any other information.

A4 from Rotkreuz to junction A4/A4a at Zug, May 2013:
(this section has been widened to 3 lanes in each direction; works were completed some months ago - the result is a very comfortable drive)

I was reading in shock about the backward mentality of Swiss authorities that banned private cars from circulating in Kanton Graubaueden until 1926 :O

1926? Well, women couldn't have voted until 1971, so it's not that bad.

Will this motorway be built further east to meet the A3? It would be only about 7-8 km, and it would be a good connection between A2, A4 and A3.

There was a plan to build a tunnel to connect it to the A3. It would have had one lane per direction. A single track railway tunnel was also planned, but both projects were later abandoned until recently, when they started speaking again about the Hirzel road tunnel: http://www.zug4you.ch/hirzel_tunnel_...ns_ground.html

The road tunnel is however still not financed and the planning process has just restarted, so we might see it in maybe 15 or 20 years. The rail tunnel project is still kept on hold.

Until the opening of the A4 around 2009 the A4a together with the N8 Sihlstrasse was the main access to Zürich from the south.

With the new organization of the national roads around 2015 the A4a might be renumbered A14 (as a logic continuation of the existing A14).

Off-Topic: How often was women's suffrage implemented due to a referendum in other countries? (And in which of all those countries where was no referendum men still wouldn't allow their women to vote? )

ok, I let you know. Switzerland was the first country where male voters decided that women have the right to vote.

Never heared about that. Is there any detailed information, e.g. a comparison with old and new numbering?
