that picture of Grimselpass looks scary... isn't it possible for a pile that large of snow to fall into pieces on the road if it melts just a bit? yeh I admit I wouldn't be brave enough to drive through there :P

Concrete on viaduct? Very rare in Europe.

Probably because of the small radius. New Roundabouts in Switzerland are made from concrete as well because of the same reason.

looks unstable , hows it supported on that curve ? Curvy Bridges require more supports then straight bridges!

It looks like its hanging onto one pier.....and its a hairpin bridge ..... why couldn't they just build onto onto the slope, less costly!

If that would be true, they would do it. But they didn't, apparently it wouldn't be less costly.

Most of those hairpin bridges replace the older hairpin bends on the hillside, which were narrow and sharp. The bridges are an excellent idea, and a lot of fun to drive down

I shot this video last sunday in Schaffhausen. This video runs across the Autostrasse A4, an express road right through Schaffhausen. Typical Swiss, most of it is in tunnels.

There are many tunnels also in Neuchâtel and Luzern. Whole A5 in Neuchâtel is under it actually.

And Basel... and Zürich... and Sankt Gallen... yeah where do they not have a lot of tunnels in CH?

Yes, that's true. I like A5 through Neuchâtel most, as it's so straight; the worst is A2 through Luzern, too winding, even though it was improved.

You gotta love the new Westumfahrung Zürich. I made a video from the Brüttiseller Kreuz all the way to the A3 on the southern side near Adliswil. Half of it or so is underground.

Q) Why did God create mountains?

A) So that the Swiss would have places to build their tunnels.
