Archaeologists Discover Rare Statues at Angkor Wat

Archaeologists at Cambodia's famous Angkor Wat temple complex say they have unearthed the largest Buddhist statues there in eight decades.

Ly Vanna, an artifacts expert for the government's Apsara Authority that oversees the site, said Thursday the two stone statues found at Ta Prohm temple were headless but the larger one if complete would stand about 10 feet (3 meters) tall. He says the statues are believed to date from the 12th century and are the biggest discovered since the 1930s.

Saurav Ray of the Indian embassy says the statues were found by workers carrying out the Archaeological Survey of India's 10-year, $4 million restoration project. Angkor's rehabilitation follows decades of neglect due to civil war.

The Land of Gods, the First 3D Documentary of Cambodia

The Land of Gods is the first 3D documentary film which shows about the glorious days of the Khmer Empire in Angkor era. This 70 minutes movie will bring the history to life to let the world know about the glorious moment of Cambodia in early 12 and 13 century.

Only in 19th century, did the world start to take notice of the great Khmer Empire. The Angkor Wat, the magnificent architectural wonder located deep in the Cambodia jungle, is praised as a temple superior to any of those from ancient Greece and Rome. The land of Gods, the first 3D documentary, filmed by a famous film production in South Korea (EBS), is a reconstruction of the temple and the era of the Khmer Empire. The magnificent façade and scenery of Angkor Wat, valued today simply as a fascinating to tourist destination, may be amazing, but this documentary portrays the glory day of the Khmer Empire, which lasted from the time of Suryavaraman II to Jayavarman VII, and sheds light on the meaning of this architectural wonder and the culture of its people during that period of time. Watching history being recreated by Cambodian actors and Angkro Wat being reconstructed to this assumed, original form, the audience becomes deeply engrossed in this feat of powerful narration and 3D spectacle. Even though this film is produced in the typical explanatory style of a TV documentary, it is excellent educational material that teaches the importance of a nation’s history and its cultural significance. This is a country that once ruled Asia, a nation that is hoping for a comeback, overcoming the damages of a civil war and the political wounds. The desire of a young emperor dissipates into this air as history circles around and around.

I was searching something in Google about Angkor Wat and I found a Website that saying that Khmer aren't the builders of Angkor o.o

They say that the "Khom People" build Angkor Wat and ruled the "Khmer Empire"
someone of you know more about that thesis.
