The current governor is PPD, the governor that have 24 federal charges. But the winners of the elections 2008 are both PNP, the governor and the resident comissioner. The governor elected recently is Republican, but the resident comissioner is Democrat. Both pro-statehood.

@ AUchamps: Puerto Rico wouldn't be like Quebec because we're barely 4 million people,it would be less than 2% of the population of the US(unlike Quebec which has a pretty big % of Canada's population). Also we're an island,it's not like we're your closest neighbor. ABout sports, our main sports are pretty much the same as in the US with the exception of ice hockey and american football(which has a nice ammount of fans, mostly educated and with high income). Although PR is pretty conservative,it would most likely be the most Democratic state right up there with Hawaii. Like alexis91 said, the current Governor is from the PDP and Democrat, the Governor-elect is PNP and Republican.

@alexis91: I'm pretty sure the first pic is PR-53 somewhere in Salinas or Guayama. The second one pic is PR-10 which is NOT a freeway.

The first pic is in PR-52 in Salinas, from Cayey, near the toll. The second pic I know is not an freeway, but it has the capacity to be, and is one of the most important roads of the island, because it cross the island north to south, linking the cities of Arecibo and Ponce.

I was about to say these pictures look like the United States but Puerto Rico is the United States. Nice pictures.

3/4 km? It's the first time I see such a weird notation.

Miles are different in that they cannot be conveniently expressed in smaller units, so Americans had to use the fractions of a mile (very few people know how many yards or feet in a mile). In Puerto Rico, you are blessed with metres and kilometres, so instead of writing 3/4 km, you could write 750 m

Weird notation indeed. In the Netherlands we always say xxx metres or x kms. Never 1.5 km or sth.
