In a few months(November or October I think), Belgrade will get it's biggest mall till now: Delta City 67
http://www.beobuild.net/news.php/56.html?go=projects It will have 89000 square metres of commercial space ![]() The same company has a lot of other plans after it finishes with "City" malls. All their malls are projected by Isreali MYS architects - you can see the rest of projects here - http://www.m-y-s.com/portfolio/locations (look at Serbia) But the bigest mall of them all will probably be Usce center, with 120000 square meters or commercial space, plus 60000 square meters in the twin office towers http://www.beobuild.net/news.php/60.html?go=projects

For Sofia, this will be the biggest mall, it will be built behind the Central Train Station just like Cotroceni Park it will be around 210 000 sqm. The investor is the Spanish company Riofisa, the works should start next summer. The complex will mainly be for retail but it will include a 90m office/hotel tower.

Well, dunno about Bulgarian malls, the retail sector is booming. I know there are some malls already built in Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo and many more approved or U/C in Sofia and the country.
These are the most well-known in Sofia: Mall of Sofia, about 70k sqm, it has a cinema multiplex as well as the Balkans' second IMAX 3D cinema (the first is in Athens). ![]() City center Sofia, about 45k sqm. And Sky City, which is smaller, about 25k sqm ![]() ...till 2010, at least 5-6 more are going to be opened

btw i want to ask a question, do you qualify shopping centers and malls as same? we generally use shopping center instead of the word "mall"

First of all, I'd like to comment positively on the photos of these shopping malls in Bulgaria and Albania, they really look pretty and exactly "the way shopping mall should look like". What I personally don't like (this is the case with a lot of shopping malls in the ex-yu area as well) is when everything is written in English.
What do you think? I mean, I'm sure "kuglanje" is not known as "bowling" in Bulgaria, right? I guess, it would be OK to have things written both in the native language and English as well, but to have everything written in English only...... |

Are malls really a measure of modernity in a country? too many of them and they take too much space. not to mention the stupid names they are given......
