A train arriving at Subiaco, out of the tunnel:

I pretty sure the freeway will meet up with the NSR near Arena Joondalup and run either along side the current alignment, or either side as it does now... I'm pretty sure I've seen a PDF of this somewhere.

Can find the PDF... but here is a link to main road that states;

"The work will include completing the existing interchange at Hodges Drive and constructing new interchanges at Shenton Avenue and Burns Beach Road. There will be bridges over the Freeway at Hodges Drive, Shenton Avenue and Moore Drive.

South of Moore Drive a tunnel will be built so the railway can be relocated from the western side of the Freeway reserve to the Freeway median. The railway will pass under the Freeway's southbound lanes via a tunnel, into the median and continue north to Currambine Station. " - http://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/Inter...n/mitchell.asp

There is a PDF that has a diagram with the rail and freeway alignments

The railway actually stays within the freeway reservation until just past Nowergup Depot, near Butler. So I'd expect the northbound carriagway of the Mitchell to be found under that bridge.

i make use of the 2am trains a bit. they are usually packed full but there's rarely problems, although i only ever use the fremantle or midland lines. well staffed with transit guards and a bit of a party atmosphere onboard.

The freeway and thus the train line runs right past the eastern border of Innaloo. The current design of the NSL is to keep the system as simple and fast as possible. Using feeder services such as buses and park-n-ride to service the stations. Rather then creating station and line spurs and turning the line it into a tangled mess.

Check out this image of the Brighton Masterplan below to indicate where the Northern Suburbs rail line will run past Clarkson.

After Clarkson the next station will be Butler, which will still be within the Mitchell Freeway median. After that the railway will head west, out of the freeway median to the next station at Brighton. It is interesting to see that some fairly decent mixed-use resi/commercial precincts are planned around the stations within the Brighton Master Plan.

Presumably after these stations the next will be Alkimos, then maybe one or two more before reaching Yanchep.

You can also see that the Mitchell freeway will split to go around the Nowergup rail facility, with the south-bound lanes curving right out to the east, while the north-bound lanes maintain the same orientation straight-ahead.

An important Document if you want to know where Perth's rail service is going in the future.

train services to mandurah will run at 130km/h, starting from south of Bull Creek station. The rest is 110/120 and 80 when nearing the narrows bridge.

Is it possible to have 2 stations on a spur line? I thought you could only have one, then you need to actually build a new line if you want more.
