The decor of the place looks nice but the food doesn't really.
Im sure it'll get better though it's only been open a few days it can only improve (hopefully)
Have you tried Red Hot Buffet? I'ts in Hockley and it's the best all you can eat that I've ever had.
They have such a good selection of different cuisines.
They have a chocolate fountain aswell

I don't like it for that exact reason. Because they have so many different types of food it dosn't feel specialised. I didn't really enjoy it when I went but every else seemed to though.

I was just looking through the eastside application for something and found this little sentance which I think sums up retail in this city.

Quote:
The city centre retail has two dominant shopping centres on its
north and south edges, The Victoria and Broadmarsh Centres
respectively. Between them is an extensive network of retail
streets that maintain Nottingham’s reputation as one of the
principal shopping destinations in the region.

check this out...

Quote:
A Car smashed into a city centre fashion store before speeding off.

The blue car went through the front of River Island, Lister Gate, at 3am today.

Two men were arrested minutes later after a car was stopped in Bunbury Street, The Meadows.

A police spokesman said: "We are investigating an incident at a fashion store in the city centre which was reported to us at 3.08am today.

"Two people have been arrested and enquiries are continuing."

Witnesses said the car, possibly a Vauxhall Vectra, containing three people, reversed out of the store and headed towards Albert Street and Castle Gate.

Staff had to get in under a gap in the shutters which had been broken in the raid.

The main doors had been smashed and were boarded up.

Inside, clothes were strewn across the floor.

All calls to Notts police on 0115 967 0999 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

Bludy hell. Has anything been stolen then? Sounds like a ram raid to me.
This isn't the first time this has happened though. It happened near the council house arcade a few years ago aswell.

Well with their borderline fascist return policy it's no wonder somebody took things into their own hands.

But ram raiding somewhere on a dead-end pedestrianised street? Didn't think that one through...

Timerland has closed down

Theres a note on the door that say's "This Timerland Franchise has Ceased Trading, Please take up any outstanding issues on our website" etc...

Unless this is for relocation then this is totally bad news... why? It was in a bit of a bad spot.

I've just been looking at the shopping property website... the guys who are in the unit next to american express are moving out. Which I think is good news. We'll get a new retailer on the block....

Diesel are also looking to move out?? More than likely a relocation because that shop is always busy... its a fairly big size though so I wouldn't have thought it was too small...??

Heres everything else available on Bridlesmith. Theres some big units.

I saw that new Chocolate Shop last night. It has gone in where Fat Face used to be on Pelham Street. A bit of a shame because thats where Bildurn wanted to relocate the amusement arcade to so they could develop the building on the corner. Hope they can find somewhere else, preferably where no one can see it!

I went there last night as well after seeing your pics dan. I have to agree with most things you said about it, but we only paid £10.95...don't know if it's gone down since you went. I was a bit disappointed with the food and it was also absolutely dead in there. There were only two other tables occupied most of the time we were in there and only one other group came in. Not great for a Saturday night. Hopefully they're putting a small selection of food on at the moment because it's only just opened and they're not getting many customers yet. The rest of the place was very impressive for a buffet place. Once Lace Market Square is finished and when/if they sort the food selection out I think it will get a lot busier and would be well worth the £10.95.

A little bit more information regarding YO! Sushi

Quote:
YO! Sushi Nottingham

YO! Sushi Nottingham is located at 1 Weekday Cross, the former site of Stones Deli in the chic Lace Market quarter, adding to the city's diverse mix of gastronomic delights.

Nottingham's award-winning interior designer, Philip Watts, is the brain behind the 75-seater restaurant design, adding to his existing YO! Sushi portfolio of restaurants in Brighton, Bluewater and The Brunswick, London.

YO! Sushi Nottingham features include huge sculptured hanging lights, silver space-age inspired mirror-backed walls, mirror balls, integrated LED lit Champagne buckets and funky display portholes - all of which sit next to cool corian surfaces, neutral leather upholstery and tranquil pebbled walls and mosaics.

Philip Watts commented: "Working with YO! Sushi, we have found our ideal partners, they want us to change each restaurant every time, the brand must not be a rollout, as their customers look forward to each new site to see what's new. There are some recurring themes that we as a design company like to use to sum up the brand including Chic Japan, Barbarella, space travel, run and irreverence, and in Nottingham we've added a healthy helping of style."

"YO! Sushi Nottingham perfectly demonstrates our evolving vision for the brand; themes of space travel, Japan and textures of the sea are thrown wittily in the melting pot. The result is a unique dining experience; part Willy Wonker, part space craft and part Zen garden... totally YO! Sushi!"

This is great, I didn't realise that the Nottingham YO! Sushi is one of only 3 non-department store branches outside of London in the UK. The other two appear to be Manchester and Brighton. That really adds to the cred of having one in Nottingham, good on them for being brave with Nottingham and good on us for attracting a big name restaurant chain, hopefully they'll help invigorate the somewhat dead Fletcher Gate. Should feel more city centre, I suppose, when the pod has tenants.
Danz, you said that you heard a rumour from a work man about a casino taking space - I really hope this is wrong information, that's prime retail space, it has a big part to play for Nottingham's reputation on the retail rankings, I think yet another casino would be a waste.

Sushi stores are in London but they are now starting to open up oustide of the London area, the Manchester store opens in November and this will be the first offical YO! Sushi store in Manchester but there is the 2 concessions at Selfridges (City Centre & Trafford Centre), but is great to see that the company is starting to expand throughout the UK now.

My guess is that this won't be the case... Really can't see this happening...

I went around the pod with two people, one from the PR Company, the other the site manager. It was the site manager that said he though it would be a casino... however both I and the PR woman looked at eachother like... does he know what he's on about lol. He's definitely not setting it up for a casino so I think this is just him taking a wild guess.

Thats really rubbish

Imagine getting to work and reading that!

Happened to a mate of mine at Sausage bar.

The guy did not tell a soul. Just sold it up.

I guess shops/bars are going with mafia rule.

That is really good news though if they are moving. Once we start seeing the bigger companies leave that area, we know that broadmarsh cannot be far from starting, or they would just sign another years lease. Once Boots and HMV go, its a sure fire thing. I give a matter of months now, I mean, apple, TxMaxx, Dixons, New Look, Hobby Craft, that memorbilia store, Carphone Warehouse have all relocated from the centre now, it cant be long

Not 100% that this is news relating to braodmarsh.

Currys/Dixons/whatever are having somewhat of a strategic change and may just not be making money there.

It may give Westfield a kick up the backside to realise they need to get cracking though.

I hope you are right with the couple of months theory Pharmj. I really do.

Something needs to happen asap in my opinion.
