Just a quick reminder that after much pestering by myself and other 'regulars' the UK Urban Photo Contest is back up and running again. There have been so many excellent pictures here lately that i wouldn't want anyone to miss out - this is a great opportunity to get some constructive feedback and to show off our wonderful city at the same time...
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=554 My current entries.. Fountain of Youth ![]() The Queen and the Boy ![]() And if anyone doesn't believe it's a great showcase for our city, check out the latest finals, no less than 3 photos from Liverpool (well, one from New Brighton) http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=460167 |

Shows how good the real city looks away from the downtown area so beloved by our ex-pats when they come up for one of their two monthly visits and think they know the place. Love it.

Great photos.... although please can we not 'quote' posts with large numbers of photos in them as it takes an age to scroll down the page!

Your photos are getting better and better Tom, I wonder if you will become a professional one day? That one with beer barrels in particular is just stunning.

tom if your ever on the dock road i thought there was potential for a good picture. by the scrap metal place and that building that looks like a huge army barracks which i dont know what it is but its been mentioned on here before, anyway looking towards the city centre you can see the beethams looming over the tobacco warehouses with what i can only describe as a 'tunnel' used for the scrap metal to go across the street from a building over the road to the scrap metal yard. i think it would make a cracking photo i wish i had a camera on me yesterday.

![]() I found this scene interesting,it was taken in Otterspool, the young lad was just walking alongside the boat, both of them were moving in the same direction,it just looked strange at the time. |

Nice shot Paul, looks slightly surreal!
I went down to Otterspool for the first time in years the other week, was pleased to see how busy it was. Lots of people flying kites too.. and it was great to see the Garden Festival Bull back out on display..again looking oddly surreal...

Great photos swjmoore, I love the flags on the fort. They also show what a massive difference Beetham tower has made to our skyline, especially the long distance shots - it really looks like 'somewhere' from a distance now..
