Troy Smith had a terrible Preseason. I have no faith in him.

he's the BEST altrnative right now. mcnair's performance is going downhill and boller isn't consistent enough to actually win a game. and to think we actually had derrick anderson @ 1 point. what in the world were we thinkin'? oh well!! our loss, cleveland's treasure.

Pretty much all rookie QB's have terrible preseasons.

McNair is collecting SSI and Boller is the only viable QB we have left. How viable he actually is is highly debatable. One injury away from playing.

I'd like to see Troy get some in-game snaps at some point, but he's not NFL ready yet.

Not a chance. Maybe of Troy had been taking snaps all season, but I doubt he's dropped the clipboard on the sidelines. Boller's matured into a much better QB, I don't know what's with your vendetta against him. He's not afraid to take shots down the field, roll around, run, and help block downfield. McNair's been a statue in the pocket all year. You have to at least give Kyle credit for that, if nothing else.

I said it before. Boller is much better than people give him credit for. When he first started, the OL was mediocre at best (I cant count how many times i used to see Jamal tackled on the hand off), we had NO receivers.. when your touting the lanky-no-backbone-clarence-moore (whos giving up on plays was cause for at least 3 game changing interceptions in losses by my count) as a touchdown threat, ur in trouble, and Jamal was on the decline.. even when he did survive the handoff, that tiptoing he did wasnt going to get him anywhere.

Bollers downfall was always the snap.. either he'd bobble it, or he'd trip on himself stepping back.. hes gotten that out of his system now.. Id say he bobbles it maybe once a game and I have yet to see him trip on himself.

Hes an excellent, underrated runner, has a good deep ball and good chemistry with heap and clayton.

Troy is undersized, and untested. The way our offensive line has been playing if he doesnt get sacked, his passes are going to be batted down no doubt.

Boller for President

Well, here we go....

McNair out at least 2 to 3 weeks
Ravens QB sidelined with left shoulder injury; Boller to start against Cleveland

By Jamison Hensley | Sun reporter
6:42 PM EST, November 13, 2007

Steve McNair will be out at least two to three weeks with a shoulder injury, which means Kyle Boller will be the Ravens' starting quarterback Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

McNair sustained a subluxation of his non-throwing shoulder -- which means it kept popping in and out of joint -- late in Sunday's 21-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, coach Brian Billick announced on his weekly radio show tonight.

Boller, who was a three-year starter before the Ravens traded for McNair, is 2-1 as the starter this season.

"Obviously, Kyle is cranked up and ready to go," Billick said.

The injury comes at a point where the Ravens could have been ready to bench McNair.

The former Pro Bowl quarterback has reached a self-proclaimed "lowest point" of his career. In six starts this season, McNair has thrown two touchdown passes and committed 11 turnovers (four interceptions and seven fumbles).

McNair was pulled from Sunday's loss with 7:33 left in the game after he failed to produce a scoring drive against a Bengals defense that had allowed 30.5 points a game.

A day after the loss, the Ravens announced McNair had a shoulder injury. Billick said tonight that McNair was injured on his last hit.

According to Billick, McNair will miss a "minimum" of two to three weeks before he can begin practicing.

"Initially, it was one of those things where there's a numbness to it and then you wake up in morning and it's, 'Oh my God, what's going on here?,' " Billick said.

With McNair sidelined, rookie fifth-round pick Troy Smith will be Boller's backup. The Heisman Trophy winner has not taken a snap during the regular season.

"That's going to be a fun challenge for Troy, because now he's been around enough," Billick said. "The focus and attention that he brings to [preparing] is heightened."

i don't have anything against him as a person. my friend & i met him personally after the carolina game last year on the anita marks show and he's a great guy. he has a great personality. i just don't think he's nfl quarterback material. and i did give him credit. i said in a earlier post a couple of pages back that he's "one tough customer". i just think his time is up (& so is mcnair's). i think four years is more than enough time for a qb to prove himself.

and for every qb that starts and flops as a rookie, i believe you will always have one "diamond in the rough". look at vince young, for example. look at matt leinart. they had EXCELLENT first years. i say start troy now while we still have a season left to hang onto.

Troy has no experience (not just game time, but practice with first team).. is not the quarterback of the future.. and if he does turn out to be the quarterback of the future, its the 1-2 years from now future..

It would seriously make no sense whatsoever to start him over kyle boller being that Kyle hasnt done anything to prove a ROOKIE could do better than him and ESPECIALLY considering the ravens still have a shot at the playoffs. Troy has to earn that starting spot in practice or in either the preseason or substitution situations. Based on his aweful preseason performance against THIRD STRING players why would you want to play him???

I understand after someone like Tom Brady everyones going to say a star can come out of any round.. but I seriously think theres a reason every other team in the NFL passed up on a heisman winning national championship game playing quarterback.. Look at what happened to that OU carbon copy heisman winning national championship game winning quarterback a few years back that everyone passed on in the draft.. he most definitely didnt prove any of the GMs wrong. Whether or not Troy will prove them wrong should wait till AFTER all hope is lost for the season.

18/37 170 yds 0 td 1 int

Troy Smiths Preseason Stats. While not God awful (He looked terrible in his first game action (3/11), but got better in the other two games he played) definitely not worthy of or ready for starting duties but maybe he has promise afterall considering those numbers look better than McNairs right now.

Baseball doesnt start till April so thats a no.

Football is a long shot. The regular season ends the weekend before you come (December 30). The only chance you have is if the Redskins somehow win their division and are the 3rd or 4th seed in the playoffs and get a home game (January 7). The way the cowboys and the redskins are playing right now, thats not going to happen, and even if it did, it would be pretty difficult/expensive to get a playoff game ticket.

Your best bet is for Basketball

Washington Wizards host

Seattle Sun Jan 6 1pm
Houston Tue Jan 8 7pm
Boston Sat Jan 12 7pm

Seattle sucks but Houston and Boston right now are great teams. Boston would be the hottest matchup.

If you cant get to one of those games, you can try out the areas college basketball games.. Theyre usually just as exciting if not more as far as the arena atmosphere goes.

UMCP, Georgetown, George Washington, George Mason are some of the more popular programs around DC right now.

Also there is the National Hockey League
Washington Capitals host Colorado Wed Jan 9 7pm

i can't believe we lost that game. phenomenal effort by boller. mcgahee had a good game. DEVARD DARLING had a great game!! that o-line has gotta' go. boller was literally running for his life most of the game. but again, heck of a performance by boller. we should've gotten the "W" in this one. so frustrating.

As said in a recent article: "If the Ravens didn't have bad luck, they wouldn't have any luck at all!"

I was so disappointed that we lost that game. I never get to watch the Ravens because they always run counter the Dolphins down here, so I had to follow it using the Gamecast on nfl.com. The Gamecast actually said the Browns missed the field goal and that the Ravens won 30-27, so I clicked out of it, ready to celebrate. I went to the Sun's website a few minutes later and saw the headline "Ravens-Browns tied at 30." I said, "That can't be right...." Sure enough... man, was I upset...

Not only can McGahee run & catch better than Jamal, but he put on a pass-blocking clinic yesterday. If the OL could only hold up their end of the bargain for the first half yesterday I don't think we're talking about a loss today.

At this point I'd be surprised if Billick was back next year...
