I think you should do a full summary...or change this too a full summary... i think the things in dublin look quite interesting and i'd too see more...i wanna see the innovative low rises (if you have any lol) just as much as i'd like to see the high rises.

Cubix do you know where exactly the Moran hotel is to be located in relation to the N7/M50 interchange? I think it looks well on the render unlike Hueston Gate!

AFAIK its beside the existing red cow hotel.not sure i dont know the area too wel. I think heuston is ok, hopefully there just bad renders. Ironically its got least attention out of the big 3 but its gonna be the tallest. 140 m will make a big impression.

Tallest hotel to be built at Red Cow roundabout
19 August 2007 By Neil Callanan
The tallest hotel in the state is to be built next to one of the country’s most congested traffic junctions: the Red Cow roundabout in Dublin.

Moran Hotels, which owns the Red Cow Inn, has been granted planning permission for a 17-storey hotel and conference centre on the Naas Road in west Dublin.

The hotel will have 488 bedrooms and the conference centre will cater for up to 1,800 people. The new hotel is expected to create around 300 new jobs.

Tracey Moran, daughter of Moran Hotels owner Tom Moran, said the plan would cost about €100 million and that they hope to appoint a contractor to commence the development in the coming weeks.
The project is expected to take about two years to complete and will include a multi-storey car park, 18 meeting rooms, restaurants and bars.

‘‘The existing Red Cow Inn building will be left unchanged,” Moran said. ‘‘The new structure will be an impressive sight approaching Dublin and will, in effect, mark the entrance to the capital.”

South Dublin County Council has encouraged the construction of taller buildings along the Naas Road to take advantage of the Tallaght Luas line.

Moran Hotels also owns the Silver Springs hotel in Cork, and the Crown and Chiswick Hotels in London. A third hotel in London, the Kingston Moran Hotel, is due to open soon.

Hahahahahahaha U2 tower, what a self promoting bunch of tosspote, decent tower though, in a good location. I think dropping the U2 connection would imporove its credentials a hell of a lot!!!

in fairness man U2 are 1 of the biggest bands of all time and are at the end of their careers...they hardly need any promotion!!!! I think they just wanna leave a mark on their home city with something that will exist long after their gone.....

Most artists will allow their music to make the mark on history, they dont need to be as pompous as to build an eponymous tower!!! Admittedly U2 have achieved alot both musically and in other fields!!! However even well known rockstars like Bobo and The Sledge need a bit of an ego boost from time to time!!! Cant they just call it something normal like Guinness Tower or something!!!

wel U2 are behind the project in some way shape or form!they have a recording studio at the very top so thats where the name comes from..As long as its a decent high rise for Dublin Im not really bothered what they call it.. Im hoping it starts a trend...

I hate Bono but I agree with Cubix as long as its built I dont care what they call it.

Anyway since this is a Dublin High rise summary may aswell add Berkeley Court

132m only slightly taller then U2 tower but ive a feeling the U2 tower might be raised in height again as its rumoured U2 want Norman Foster to design it.

Cheers

For putting these on here.

Just thought about the U2 tower.

If there was a painful and sordid split of the band, would this mean that the various members would be fighting over what the tower should be called, if they went their musical separate ways.

I image the Edge trying to get the courts to rename it "The Edge's U2 experience" buildings

Bono would be holed up in the building, all 1916 style, demanding that it be rename "The Bono (u2) Tower."

Whilst the other two will be looking to Dublin city council to name a taxi rank after them.

I mean John Lennon was long dead before they named an airport after him.(there is plenty of drug linked irony there Kids).

And I wonder if Paul MacCartney thinks at night "I wonder what transport interchange facility on merseyside will I named after when I die."

But no Messiah Bono wants to be remembered whilst hes alive!!!
