The people behind this tower were smart enough to call it the tower of Babel, they also knew that it would never become reality.

I didn't know about this one, but the name says enough. It's just one of the futuristic visions that came up during the 1990s, I wouldn't even call it a project.

Tower Nikitin - 4000 travusha

Tower Nikitin - Travusha 4000 (draft) - one of the tallest skyscrapers ever designed. Its estimated height of 4000 m The project was developed in Japan in the 1966-1969 years in CNIIEP them. BS Mezentseva team under the leadership of the Ostankino television tower, Doctor of Technical Sciences NV Nikitin and chief engineer, candidate of technical sciences VI Travusha. The project was started August 9, 1966 to order a Japanese company (owner Mitsusiba).

The structure was designed as a four-story steel mesh tapered bearing shell. The height of each layer was 1000 m basal diameter of a skyscraper - 800 m lower base of the tower project was a cylinder of height 100 m, which is part of the first tier. The foundation was designed prestressed concrete. The construction of the skyscraper was designed taking into account the maximum possible value of hurricane winds and ceiling earthquakes in Japan.

According to the draft tower Nikitin - Travusha was supposed to be a residential building and could accommodate up to 500,000 people. A draft of life support systems of a skyscraper, including ventilation, electricity, water and other utilities to a height of 4,000 m

Upon receipt of the preliminary conceptual design and engineering calculations, the Japanese side reported on the preliminary agreement, Kenzo Tange to participate in the architectural design of a skyscraper chetyrehkilometrovogo. Further work on the project ran into organizational problems. State Committee for Construction of the USSR refused to send a request to the Japanese, NV Nikitin, a business trip to Tokyo. By September 1967 the Japanese side has a detailed elaboration of design a skyscraper. Work on the project was halted in January 1969 after being summoned to the Japanese side to reduce the calculated height of the tower.

Draft Towers skyscraper Nikitin - Travusha has similar elements to the design of the proposed project in Japan skyscraper X-Seed 4000.

Dear Spider-Man22, Thank you for your contribution and welcome to the forum.

I don't know what the moderators think, but this discussion is probably off-topic here, and would better fit in the "Izakaya" section.

You need to understand that projects like this one are not meant to be built ever. These are visions, usually proposed by construction firms to advertise their engineering skills, and in this case in it comes from a university professor who knows it will never happen.

Japan has a shrinking population and even though cities are getting denser, with an average building height continuously getting taller, it's not going to go taller and taller indefinitely.

No one can even predict if Tokyo will someday have a supertalll, so you see, we're far from the 10'000m.!

Cheers

. It's the same case as Tokyo Tower of Babel, it's a vision and never intended to be built. You can apply Braillard's post in Tokyo Tower of Babel to this one too .

This section is indeed more for actual construction projects, although some old vision threads ended up here during the several times the forum was restructured.

I will join all the vision threads together to 1 thread and move it to the Infrastructure & Citytalk section. I think that's the best place for a discussion about these towers.

I think any buildings past 2000m in height are laughable. Not because they can't be built, but because the human body would have to acclimatize to function properly at those altitudes, especially if one has to go up and down the building. It's feasible, but not practical.

Highly impossible to build with the current technology and materials available now. It will definitely require a quantum leap in building construction technologies along with other scientific and technical advances.

It may probably be built in the future............but I reckon that flying cars would have to come first before something like this becomes a reality.
