Vic centre gives the impression of a distant towering metropolis.

It can work well up close too.

Hideous box again. I like the front of that building, that looks nice. The top is horrid..

Would anyone mind going out and taking some more pics of Nottinghams skyline?

I took this shot the other day when the sky was on fire.

You can't see much, but you can see Vic Centre and the Towers on Hutington Street

I remember thinking that when I first saw this building. I have a personal dislike of it though purely because it replaced Victoria station, which was beautiful, not to mention being important as a transport facility.

The station was closed as a result of all the lines that used it being closed as well though, so it wasn't an important facility at all by then. Of course it was nice architecturally and some of the lines through it would probably be very useful if they were still there today, but placed in the context of its time it seems the place was always doomed sadly.

Took some skyline shots tonight. Not that happy with them but I'll post them anyway. All of them are taken from The Apple Tree pub in Compton Acres. I also took some from a field in cotgrave but they look terrible.

I also need some ideas from you guys about locations to get a good skyline shot. Porchester road is already on my list, it's just getting round to doing it. There is also a small park on Windmill Lane near Carlton that has a good view into town. If any of you have any good ones, let me know and I'll try and get a good photo from there. I'd love to try and get on the roof of Burrows Court as the views from there would be brilliant but seeing as it's boarded up and probably full of syringes and other shit from squatters it's unlikely that I'll get up there. There is graffiti on the top of the lift shaft on the roof though so there must be a way in.

These look like they could be good shots with a bit of editing, what zoom does your camera go to?

I have edited them. I probably should have taken the UV filter off the lense. The glass can sometimes distort pictures.

My zoom lense ranges from 70-300mm and it's a Sigma. My camera equipment desperately needs cleaning as well.

Lamens terms only please! Though I'd love a proper camera my compact fits in my pocket and has a 12x zoom which minimises the time I need to look like a tourist.

I think that Belle Vue Reservoir is quite a good spot Stefan, here if you don't already know of it.

This patch of ground on Brewsters Road isn't bad either (I think the concrete may have been built on but not the grass), though I'm not sure if it offers much more than Porchester Road.

Yes - this gives a great view, though mind out for prostitutes!

You could probably drop a pin on a map of Nottingham and yell out the same warning...
