HELL NO......there are many other more reputed service providers who are bidding.....let one of them win the tenders so they can show AAI, AI, Indian, Unions, and commies the real way of running an airport. |

Shamsabad Airport's name..
Couldn't the patronising sycophants of the "Queen" in Congress think of any other name for the Hyd.AP other than Rajiv Gandhi blumblimblaa?
This is just getting to a point where Shiv Sena once wanted every station / street / road / square to be named after Chhatrapati Shivaji etc.etc.etc. in Maharashtra - to a point where even die-hard Shivaji followers like me were spewing vitriol at Shiv-Sena for sensitising that great man's name in a wantonly manner. This nation has been numbed enough with Gandhi names accorded to every project. We have had a rich collection of historical figures in Andhra history ... whydafok could they not think out of the box? I am reeling !!!!!!!!!

Airports should not be named after any individual. I am of the opinion that HYD International is good enough.

It is not that we are short on names. The govt has already decided to name it after its beloved leader. In a years time, for a visitor to meet CM, the directions would read something like.
Land into Rajiv Gandhi international airport, take Rajiv gandhi expressway overseeing Rajiv Gandhi park encircling rajiv gandhi statue, enter onto rajiv gandhi marg and make a left at rajiv gandhi circle toenter rajiv gandhi bhavan to meet Chief minister. |

Actually it would be easier to rename India as Gandhi-Nehrustan. It'll save the Congress slaves the trouble.

Babji, the picture you posted is a little older from Jan 8, 2007. The roof sheeting is almost complete for the main terminal as can be seen from the latest pic as of Feb 26, 2007.

I can say that based on my experience on Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International airport in US. Construction can progress faster in India mainly because 1) it is not highly regulated like in US 2) cheap labor available to work 24 X 7 if there is a need. However, if the opening date is one year away then probably it is not doable. Usually, once construction completes, the airport authorities and new management do at least 3 months of dry run to remove wrinkles from the system. That means for airport to open in a year, construction should complete in 9 months and that is definitely a steep target. |

HIAL CEO announced this week that the project is on target and would open as per schedule which is March 01, 2008.
L&T has a good track record of completion on time. What is not visible is that there is lot of electrical and mechanical activity going on inside the building. I agree there is lot of work that needs to be done, add to that our inexperience of starting operations in a new airport with significant traffic. This being a green/brown field airports adds to it. Lets hope, its on time. |
