Does anyone know what the ticket prices are? Is there a zone system by which tickets are priced or is it point to point? Also is there daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly fares available?
Has Delhi Metro introduced rewards points as yet?

Mate,

DMRC is not ambitious as cityrail or countrylink of australia :-)

we dont have anything like student or pensioner fares. Infact we dont even have a different peak pricing fare mechanism where fares from early morning to 9 am when the super rush hour is u will have a higher fare and after that much more cheaper.

No u dont get any weekly or quaterly or yearly tkts. fares are simple point to point. For frequent travellers dmrc offers a travel card they can get credits loaded on those cards in multiple of 50 rupees and use on. each time the credit is loaded on card the validity is 1 year. If u surrended your travel the refundablle security deposit would be returned back to u.

any more queries just check up www.delhimetrorail.com

cheers
Vabby

DMRC ticketing the same mechanism as HK, Singapore, which doesnt have peak/off peak hour rates.. When DTC gets integrated with same smart card, you might have transfer rebate when u get off the metro and get on to a bus within a specified time, similar to the other asian cities...

Wow I have seen a lot of pictures of India. I didn't believe my uncle when he said to me that Delhi has a metroline. But when I saw these pics with my own eyes I started believing it. Some of the pics are looking familiar, with the things I saw in Malaysia. It is for sure that India is developping verry fast. I surerly will come at least one time to India, for me it will be the first time in my life.

This is just my opinion, but I think that the places that built elevators instead of stairs was a stupid idea. So much pedestrian traffic. Less with wider stairs.

No man,the 1st pic is not a metro picture, trust me! The railngs of that 1st picture indicate it.
Flyovers built during 80-96 had those concrete railings.
Flyovers built during 96-till now have red metal railings
and the metro has grey-white railings..

Indiasunite is right - that is an on ramp on the Ring Road, not the metro line. I have pictures of it in my gallery too. It is close to Kashmere Gate station if I recall right. There's a location I've pictured where a road, part of the ramp, and the metro together form a 2.5-level overpass.

One more point in favor of it being a flyover is the lack of any electric poles that are required for the metro. These are visible in the middle photo of the metro line.

These are ramps of the ISBT bridge across the Yamuna river. The photos are on the Ring Road and are close to the Kashmere Gate metro station. The distinctive feature of the elevated section of the metro is the presence of overhead traction (OHT) towers - i.e. towers from which the overhead cables are suspended.

Here are some Video Clips of the Delhi Metro!!

Video 1
A 4-coach Metro train going East towards Shahdara speeding towards the Seelampur station.

Video 2
Doors close and the train shown in Video 1 departs from Seelampur station.

Video 3
Handful of passengers get on the train at Seelampur station and a 4-coach Metro train departs towards Inderlok (formely known at Trinagar).

Video 4
Train arrives from Shahdara at the Inderlok (Trinagar) station. A decent crowd of passengers gets off and heads towards the escalator towards the left. Inderlok was the last station on the Shahdara-Inderlok section when the video was shot. Notice the digital signboard indicating that "Train Terminates Here" or "Yatra Samaapt" in Hindi.

And A video in Sound

I wish, like in HK / Singapore, Delhi / Mumbai and slowly, all metros of India too would introduce a "fare-synergy" program - like that of "OCTOPUS" of HK.

You buy the Octopus electronic fare card (with an initial deposit + say a block value amount). With each travel transaction, your card value is deducted.

Special card readers are installed on buses, ferries, trams, train consoles etc to make travelling easier.

IN Indian metros, you still have to line up to buy a simple ticket with painfully long lines (Mumbai especially). I am sure Delhi has shown the way for metro travel however, Delhi Metro needs to introduce the "OCTOPUS" type scheme - especially in the face of the international events that it will be hosting.

I have heard that the project 'GO MUMBAI' is doing something similar, First they have contactless Smart cards for BEST... I think they mite integrate with the local trains... I heard that Railway is planning to introduce smart cards to bombay commuters.. I dont know whether they will integrate the ticketing system or not.. I was staying in SG for quite sometime, that EZ card is amazing.. you can not only pay for ur transport but also buy Macdonalds, recharge at mcdonalds outlet.. Really cashless and really convenient..
Kolkata metro is using smart card system with a real absurd logic. Your 100 Rs smart card is valid for 30 days only.. I have no idea wat it means? In Delhi,HK,SG, I think all smart cards have validity of one yr and with no limits of howmuch u want to reload. So, as far I've heard, not many ppl went for the smart cards..

There are electronic machines that you can buy tickets from.
