As per point 3 and 4 if they lay parallel with existing BG - land aqiuisation should be done which will costs more.
Initially, only MG was there bw madurai and dindugal. When they started first BG line, they thought that existing MG line is having some problems, like narrow turning, etc. So they planned for new route without narrow turning.

They same reason will applicable for the new BG also.Because BG should not have narrow turning, curvy turning etc.

Please LEADERS ! Don't play fool on Madurai PUBLIC !!!

I was shocked on M.K.Stalin's statement that MADURAI will be like SINGAPORE in next 5 years time....It's really cheatful......

We , the maduraites were already made fool by our former MP Mr.Subramaniyaswami who also told us the same words , a 10 years ago....But unfortunately....Madurai didn't turn like SINGAPORE in his time..

We , the madurai PUBLIC , are really proud of the present central ( UPA ) Govt., and the present state ( DMK-alliance ) govt., for highlighting MADURAI in the world map by making infrastructure clear & full facilities for the people....We don't want our MADURAI to be turned like SINGAPORE....

Let Madurai be as MADURAI itself.....because MADURAI has its own fame & name among the world which will not diminish until the lord MEENAKSHI of madurai disappear.

Please don't throw us the CHEATFUL words like this......We are more satisfied with your present efforts & works and we wish the same should be continued & Madurai should not be restricted/rejected for any of the projects....

On behalf of Madurai public......It's MADURAI GILLI !!!

As per the report in the above Dinamalar link, Wipro, Satyam and HCL's establishment at Madurai IT Park near MKU has been confirmed. They have applied for Electric connections also.
Satyam has definitely been allotted land for their development centre on 29.08.2007, thats what ELCOT website says. Not sure if its really in the Madurai IT SEZ, someone who has more information can shed some light on this development.

Also Scope e-Knowledge Center Pvt Ltd has been in touch with ELCOT for a possible setting up of office in Madurai and Trichy IT parks. Definitely encouraging signs.

WORKS like JETSPEED IN MADURAI AIRPORT !!!

Dear Guys .,

I wander in my bike yesterday around the MADURAI airport & happy to see the works in jet speed......Yes., ..... Nearly 7-8 JCB's and BOCLAINs are working near the compound walls....The warning boards by the AAI was laid in the places, recently acquired for the Madurai airport expansion...The same boards was also laid in the campus of CIRAC Hospitals & also opposite to the airport, next to the ring road { I think the road between MANDELA NAGAR & THOTTIYAPATTI will be demolished } .......Also I don't know whether they are going to demolish the HOSPITAL & Residencies there.....
Also some 20-25 workers are on the work of runway strengthening & expansion.......But no signs of integration of new terminal building....

Also near sholankurini , I can able to see the RR industries mega project is ready to take its shape......Yes ..... in very near period , we can hear the announcement for foundation & the civil works from the company......

SAHARA City homes in RING ROAD is also ready to take its shape in very near future...

Another ARTS & SCIENCE College is coming near the airport { the very next to the airport campus & on the APK Main road }.....It will be run by NAGARATHINAM - ANGAMMAL Educational trust of VILLAPURAM , MADURAI & the college also will be named as NAGARATHINAM - ANGAMMAL COLLEGE OF arts & Science.......

The southern areas of MADURAI is now sparkling with the rapid development in REAL ESTATES & commercials....

At what stage is the progress of runway expansion ?. Will they complete it by the end of Sept ?. Where those JCB's and Poclains working on the current runway expansion side or the opposite side near the Chirac hospital side. From your post its clear that the future runway expansion will be on the opposite side. Good to hear that they have acquired land for further expansion of the runway.

Its a quite usual words of our great politicians! Earlier they used to say dat chennai would become like singapore, now they have moved to others also., Remember MK told during election campaign in salem dat it would become like singapore.
First MK n other DMK cadres should visit singapore first n find out the transportation facilities provided by the govt. n the infrastructure thr.

Quote:
CHENNAI: Encouraged by the real estate growth story in India Akshaya Homes is planning to expand its business in major South Indian cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli in the current fiscal.

As part of its expansion plans, company would build up a 'land bank' in these cities and was in the process of acquiring land, Akshaya Homes' Managing Director Chitty Babu said.

The Chennai-based realty firm would also come up with special economic zones at Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli dedicated to IT and IT enabled services, he added further.

Well when these politician utter words like this, they could atleast say MADURAI WILL BECOME NEXT SINGAPORE in 1975 OR 1985 OR !!!! WHICH EVER by 2025 or 2035. Just to make us feel little less fooled. Given that Singapore will be a different Singapore tomorrow or the day after, may be these guys got to pick another easy example.

One of the main objectives of the Tamil Nadu government, is to make Tamil Nadu State into another Singapore style living standard as a whole, and not focusing on individual city alone.

Hence, by this way, ensure a more balance Tamil Nadu State's economy, peace, stability, cohesive and prosperity state, towards the goal of achieving numero uno state of India throughout.

And at the same time, uplifting the living standard of Tamil Nadu people into a more civilized civic society.

ELCOT seems to be tight lipped on developments related to IT parks

I had mailed to a few ELCOT officials regarding the Dinamalar news article which stated that Satyam, HCL and Wipro will establish offices at Madurai IT SEZ. Finally i got a reply from ELCOT MD, and this was his reply,

Quote:
All I can say is that TIDEL, Madurai is on course.

Regards

Umashankar
ELCOT's reply on Disaster Recovery Centre

I had asked him regarding the location of this center, architecture of the building and when construction would start. This was his reply,

Quote:
it is difficult for us to correspond with you on the micro level details.
We would be shortly coming out with the tender for the construction of
the building. You can download the full details from out tender document.

As of now we are waiting for the government clearance and also funding.

Umashankar

Thanks for the updates friends. From Madurai Veeran's message on the response from ELCOT, we can atleast get to a conclusion that these plans are firm now and it's understandable that they don't want to give all the details now.

The Article about madurai in The Economics TImes
Quote:
A state government sponsored IT park is also in the vicinity, and a couple of other IT park developers are looking at this location. Moreover, the proposed four way road connecting the state capital Chennai to the southern tip Kanyakumari is set to pass through this area. It also houses a modern bus station. As a result, prices in the area have risen eight fold to Rs 1 crore an acre in the last four years

The southern side of the city, which houses the Madurai Kamaraj University, is witnessing frenzied activity as the state government is to set up an IT park there. Large swings in real estate prices have taken place in the area as it is very underdeveloped currently.

The broader reason behind the price movements is the expectation that more investments would flow into the city, driven by its low cost and relatively low real estate costs. Madurai houses a large number of arts, science and engineering colleges. The region, including other southern states, produce 15,000 engineering graduates annually, with over 6,000 of them going to Bangalore and Chennai for employment.

The city centre, with many areas around the Meenakshi temple, which are a few centuries old, continues to be the nerve centre for economic activity especially for small business. Real estate rentals in the inner city limits hover around Rs 50 per sq ft.

On the residential side, good quality constructions range from Rs 1,000 a sq ft to Rs 2,000 a sq ft in up market areas, while residential rentals vary greatly based on location. Sahara City Homes is setting up a huge project in the suburbs. Local players such as Visvas Promoters and Sashwath Constructions have a good number of residential projects under development.

Organised retail is just beginning to get a toe hold in the city and the real estate valuations are largely built on the hope of IT majors setting shop in the city in the next few years.

Tourism development

Madurai Corporation & Tamilnadu tourism dept., jointly planned for the ROPE CAR & MOUNT-TRAIN FACILITIES in Thiruparankundram and ROPE CAR FACILITY alone in ALAGARKOIL.They had planned the first one at the cost of Rs.87 lakhs & laterone at the cost of Rs.81 lakhs/-----------.They sent it for the central govt.,'s approval under JNNURM Projects.Waiting for the approval to come !!

When one official said , Central govt., is more concerning about the tourism development activities , now. It had done a survey and found the tourists coming to TAMILNADU has doubled when compared to the last years.......He also said that The main reason for such growth in visitors is only due to MADURAI & RAMESWARAM.He said that Many of the people from AMERICA , AUSTRALIA , SRILANKA, NEWZEALAND & many of the european countries visited Madurai's tourist places in & around MADURAI.Also the NORTH INDIAN Tourists are coming in more number to visit MADURAI's Meenakshi temple & RAMESWARAM. Due to this 2 important pilgrim centers & cool spots like kodaikanal & REST spot KANYAKUMARI , Tamilnadu had seen an enormous growth in TOURISM . Central government will surely approve these two projects due to more funds allocated for Tourism development , he said.We are waiting for the approval to start the ground works, he said.

ADLABS Multiplex in madurai !!

Did you remember , a few days ago , myself - the same MADURAI GILLI disclosed a news here about the ADLABS multiplex in madurai.

I said the old GANESH Theater near theppakulam was bought by ADLABS Groups & it will be upgraded to the ADLABS multiplex soon....You people doubted me & said that the ganesh theater complex was not enough for building multiplex.

But , in today's 04-09-2007 DINAKARAN newspaper , it was confirmed that my news was true....they had posted the photo also....please someone upload it here........

Regarding your doubt.......ADLABS had bought some small buildings in & around Ganesh theatre & setting up the commercial complexes to make it as a multiplex......Also , in the theater , there will not be the FILM ROLLS as old ........they will use a modern PROJECTOR which will use a CD/DVD to show the film in the screen..........

WELCOME -----------ADLABS GANESH Multiplex A/C Dts.......to Madurai
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also , Many more theatres inside the city & its outskirts are preparing to be converted into the high-class multiplexes.........Also there are new multiplexes coming in the outskirts of the city/..........

One example is that :
****************

In our area AVANIYAPURAM , the old PADMA theatre was bought by some groups and the renovation & upgradation & construction works are going on ........Very soon we can add the PADMA in theaters who is taking RELEASE films.........Already the old MATHU theater was now upgraded to new VETRI A/c Dts which is now doing its business well with the release os RAJINI'S SIVAJI.

But , Padma theatre in AVANIYAPURAM has more enough spaces to be converted as MULTIPLEX..........It may be CINEMAX groups who is upgrading it.....But it's not the sure news & I can't judge it because even the local real estate brokers of avani & villapuram area didn't know the new OWNER of it.They simply say it was sold to a RICH-Man of MUMBAI , whenever we ask about it.
