Even if TN gvt might have built a Singapore in Madurai, those tamils in Kerala Idukki, Devikulam might have been there only because they are native people of that part and not recent migrants from 1950.

Please check the demographics of that area before independence before telling that they are only migrants.

Arul, when I write something I do aware what I am writing. I fully aware how much response other area people give for such agitation. I don't need to write everything here. I also fully aware of the demographics because I born and brought up at mdu and spent good no of years not just in Madurai city but old Madurai district

பணி துவக்கம்: அதன் எதிரொலியாக கலெக்டர் சகாயம், கண்மாயில் படகு சவாரி விட நடவடிக்கை எடுத்தார். சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன் படகு சவாரி துவக்கப்பட்டது. சுற்றுலா வளர்ச்சி கழகம் சார்பில் ஐந்து படகுகள் வரை விடப்பட்டுள்ளன. சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் படகுகளில் தண்ணீருக்குள் இறங்கி ஏறும்நிலை இருந்தது. இதனால் ரூ.3.96 லட்சம் ஒன்றிய நிதி மூலம் போட் ஜெட்டி, பயணிகள் அமரும் அறை, டிக்கட் கவுன்டர் கட்ட கலெக்டர் உத்தரவிட்டார். தற்போது அப்பணிகள் துவங்கியுள்ளன.

கூடுதல் வசதிகள் தேவை: சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் வர வசதியாக இங்கு போக்குவரத்து வசதிகளை செய்ய வேண்டும். கண்மாய் கரைகளை பலப்படுத்தி, சுற்றி பேவர் பிளாக் அமைத்தால், நடை பயிற்சி மேற்கொள்ள ஏதுவாக இருக்கும். கண்மாய் கரைகளை சிலர், கழிப்பறையாக மாற்றுகின்றனர். படகு சவாரி பயணம் மேற்கொள்வோர் முகம் சுழிக்கும் அவலம் நிலவுகிறது. அதை தடுத்து நிறுத்த, கண்மாய் கரைகளை சுற்றி வேலி அமைக்கப்பட வேண்டும். கரைகளில் கூடுதல் விளக்குகளை அமைக்க வேண்டும். சுற்றுலா துறை, மாநகராட்சி நிர்வாகம் இதற்காக போதிய நிதி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்து நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

Shift of Arapalayam BS may get delayed due to Financial problems of MC.. Thathaneri crematarium and Central Jail may get the priority to be shifted to outer place..

Why do they plan for parking in Thathaneri Crematorium or Madurai Central Jail when the Corporation and Private parkings near Aarapalayam BS are having adequate space? They can use the spaces for some other purpose.

So, plans were already there to shift the Prison to Sholavandan. The prison is totally an area of 20 acres it is said. If they shift it, it will be good because we know the recent complaints that mobile phones, SIM cards, ganja are being thrown into the prison from the outside because it is in a prime locality.

Madurai is not having any entertainment facilities compared to other cities. Just Y'day JJ announced two theme parks on the lines of the one located in Singapore and said one each in trichy and madras. We can understand trichy need it since they also dont have much entertainment facilities but why for madras which has beaches, parks, vandalur zoo and so on? Nobody can understand the reason except that it is madras and so it need to have anything which comes up in TN.

Now since the district admn is talking of shifting central jail to sholavandan or melur, why not create a theme park in madurai? The campus of central jail is 30+ acres and we can have a decent theme park there. We dont want concrete jungle there again.

Madras is in TN so TN govt creates one there.. In Madras no one will fast or stop people going to work based on baseless allegations and gets the rewards in the form of growth, entertainment etc.

Yeah ananth. We have not got enough recreational facilities. Only the boating at Naganakulam is functional as of now , that too is very distant from the City center. Madurai is lacking something in the entertainment other than just movie halls. We need atleast some decent park there. And Trichy is lacking entertainment as well, but the zoological park (2nd largest in TN next only to Vandalur one) in Trichy coming up is in later stages of completion. We need one in Madurai as well not inside the premises of the Prison area (The area is more congested). Some zoological park kind of an entertainment thing can be brought up in a sururb like Kappalur or Tirumangalam which benefits both Madurai and Virudhunagar districts and to some extent, Tirunelveli and Sivagangai districts as well.

Zoological park in Kappalur/TMG looks Odd, also disturb the growing Industrialisation along this stretch.. Madurai has only few Industries only in this stretch and that need not to be disturbed by any kind of entertainment plan, even if it's worth 1000 crores..

In Madurai, I can suggest few viable places for Zoological park :

1. Azhagar-koil - Environment favours with green-cover Forests & Ghats.
2. Kudladampatti - Environment favours with green-cover Forests, Ghats and Water-falls with a small river.
3. Nagamalai Pudukottai - Environment favours with green-cover Ghats..Though It'll look artificial only even if one is made here. I can rather suggest this place for a Snake park bcs this ghats is more blended with the creature "Snakes".
4. Any place under green-cover ghats in Natham road.
5. Behind Tenkaal lake in TPK, along with Boat-house facility and a mini theme-park for Children will be too-good to be a perfect Entertainment center for Madurai.

Long back (27/28 Yrs back) during the course of my meeting with the then Madurai Collector Mr. Devraj I raised the same (zoo) issue. he agreed with me that it is very much needed since we dont have much entertainment facilities and also it will be useful for the school children. I suggested Azaghar Koil area since it has forest. Later on some proposals came up in this regard nothing happened. We need urgently the following:

1 - Deepening of vandiyur lake, clearing the encroachment of the same which is estimated at 56 acre area and creation of island and other facilities there
2 - Establishment of Zoo in Azaghar Koil forest area
3 - Creation of Park and entertainment facilities at Viraghanur dam
4 - Shifting of central jail and creation of theme park with garden etc

The above will take care of to some extend the entertainment facility problem of madurai

Natham road, Kutladampatti and Nagamalai Pudukottai will be nice as it benefits atleast 2 districts of Madurai, Dindigul or Theni. First they should show some concern on conversion of the Vandiyur tank into some recreation facility whose proposal is atleast 40 years old and atleast a day in a month we get reports of the poor maintenance of the Rajaji Park itself in one daily or the other.

The Corporation told some Multiple recreation facility near Rajaji Park a short while ago (about a month back) We will know its whereabouts in some more days, we will have to wait. I think they will prolong its implementation saying the reason that they will wait for the Prison relocation (நம்மளே ஐடியா குடுக்குறோமோ?).

Madurai too located in TN, which both the governments forgot loooong back. I don't see anything wrong in Ananth's post. Madurai lacks in entertainment, govt would have setup such park in Madurai. The continuous neglect of Madurai in all terms by both the governments makes Madurai people more frustrated. One day these frustrations for sure will lead to demand for independent state.

madras is in TN but TN is not just madras. Madras has many beaches, really big gardens, vandalur zoo, big shopping malls etc for time pass and the same is missing in other places of TN. Madurai doesnt have anything for time pass. So if madurai people say why dont you set up the theme park in madurai or tirunelveli nothing wrong in it.

As I mentioned in the start, Govt should remember that madras is infact in TN but not madras is TN.

dear mduvignesh and Sundar, I am eagerly waiting for the creation of Telegana state (eventhough I dont have anything against united AP) because that will give a clear signal to state govt's be it TN or WB or maharastra to wake up to the reality.

It is still operational . But which kind of people go to Athisayam? I hope the people who visit Madurai on a tour will go to these kinds of Water Theme Parks to spend a whole day and school children are taken there on a tour. Of the whole lot that goes to Adhisayam, only a very few are people from Madurai. And this Adhisayam is somewhat below par when compared to Veega land of Kochi interms of both dry and wet rides. I have been there thrice but I think it lacks something to go there again and again.
