They then excavate, exposing the pile caps that they then break with jack hammers leaving the rebar sticking up to be tied in with the raft rebar.

Point is, after all that, some of the pile rebars are bent. Most of the time they do straighten them somewhat but only to make it easier to tie to the new rabar for the raft.

We know they used unconventional proceedures on this project. They poured the pile concrete to the level they needed, leaving the rebar sticking up, no pile cap breaking needed. They did, however, cover the piles for a time with dirt so they could move equipment around freely. They then had to remove the dirt from around the rebar causing the bending.

This amount of bending is among some of the worst I've seen but it really doesn't matter - it will still do its job of tieing the piles to the raft. They may straighten them some anyway.

Great updates Konta - thanks for posting.

Ray.

What should I do if I drop my wallet and mobile into the rebars?

Yeh, this looks like its going to be the most epic concrete pour since Shanghai Tower, when they had pumping arms reaching into the hole like the tentacles of an octopus, with hundreds of concrete trucks lined in wait. Hopefully we'll get some good pics of the action. Certainly great shots so far, thanks guys.

The Lotte tower in Seoul also had an impressive pour for the foundation.

This will also have a massive pour, can't wait to see pics of it

Would someone please sketch in the tower footprint (roughly) over one of these photos? I'm completely disoriented.

Hello Everyone

I have lived in Shenzhen on and off for past 4 years. I just moved to a new apartment 10 minutes walk away from the Pingan IFC construction site. Only found out last week what the Pingan IFC actually was thanks to this tread. This is a first post for me.

I'll certainly try to contribute in any way possible as I walk by that site every single day. I just put up a blog post about the Pingan and included a link to this thread. Feel free to read it. Thanks again for all the great information. http://prcand.me/posts/2011/11/7/i-j...-building.html

It sucks but there's very little stuff like that easily accessible for most buildings. I don't know how other modelers do it; if they go by photo reference and try their best to match that.

Well I know its not Christmas yet, but oh well... Get ready for a little present I got for you

These I got from liftok.com site. Once again they surprised me with the inside information they have. So here we go:

Towers Location Map:

Towers sections. It seems this tower will be purely office (except observation deck) which is nice imo.

The podium and Mall. This is obviously with the new cladding scheme and I think everybody against this project will change their mind after seeing this. Looks really nice imo.

Office interiors:

Observation Deck. And what a OD it is! Truly I think one of the most epic I ever seen. Surely it will be great experience to eat there with the great views outside, and great design inside:

Floor plans:

Structure. As said many times the tower will have the structure very similar to this of Shanghai Tower with large core, supercolumns and trusses included:

Lateral Performance Analysis of the structure:

Supercolumns. Pretty much the same solution of burying columns with concrete as seen on Shanghai Tower:

Truss Details:

That would be all for now

It seems Shanghai tower foundation raft was poured in March 2010.

How long shall pouring of Pingan centre foundation take?
