Are they going to install two cranes before the rise of the core?

You can tell it is a strong crane because it looks very robust compared to its yellow counterpart.

M1280D, if I am not mistaken, is the same one as used for Shanghai Tower? Is that the most powerful crane of this type?

It is the same one as ST ones. Mind you, there are more advanced models from Favco like 1680D or 2480D.

Marr Contracting

"The M2480D is the largest capacity tower crane currently in operation in the world with a standard lift capacity of 330 tonnes at about 15 meter radius, and will lift 100 tonnes to 45 meter radius with around 130 meters of hook height and no support ties."

Wow! Great updates !
Thanks for photos posting and respect for authors!

Actually M1280D has maximal capacity with four fall 230t at 10m with 45.8m boom,
and 280t at 10m with 27.4m boom:

Source: http://marr.com.au/uploads/M1280D%20Load%20Charts.zip

But for skyscrapers construction 2-fall hoist (100t max. capacity) allows to couple enough crane capacity with boom length and hoist speed - two fall hoist lifts load more faster than 4-fall one.

==================================================================
M2480D is largest Favco crane, but I'm dissapointed by it crash:

The load on the hook at the time of the accident was aproximately 70t and was being used to complete an overload test to verify the integrity of the crane as per goverment regulations. Fortunately the lift was performed under controlled conditions and damage was limited to machinery and plant only. While there is no confirmed cause as yet, engineers investigating the incident are working on the evidence and have a theory on what caused the failure.

no one was hurt the only 2 people were taken away for shock was the driver and the fitter who was commissioning the crane at time of failure would of been 1 hell of a ride

I'm led to believe the favco are investigating with other parties on the matter

will be interesting on who pays for damage/delays/etc etc as crane was not new as previous post stated it was in Qatar but passed all inspections upon erection on site in WA

marrs currently have another two 2480's 1 is up one same site brand new i think the other still being manufactured in Malaysia

I don't know such serious accidents with M1280D.

It is also very interesting, will be second heavy tower crane also Favco or Chinese Zhongsheng luffer?

i have an interesting fact, i looked up the distance between this building and kingkey and found out that it is around 6km in between, and guess what that's also about the distance between the world trade center and the empire state building, so we all know how future skyline may look like, if we choose the right angle we may always see both skylines.
