The last picture shows actually how MASSIVE that city is. Too dense and dirty in my opinion, but interesting on the other hand though.

It really just depends on where you are. Luo Hu district, the oldest part, is a bit more rundown and a lot dirtier. But many parts of Nanshan and Futian are much less dense and extremely well maintained. I particularly like the drive in Futian down Shen Nan Da Dao lined up skyscrapers on both sides and passing by the lush green of the Shenzhen civic center or whatever it's called in English. The drive down Bin Hai Da Dao from Futian to Nanshan is a little less interesting architecturally, but also really nice.

I agree, most of the city is not dense and the city is is relatively small so it is easy to escape from. There are many huge parks (highest number of parks in any chinese city) and small mountains, as well as the bay. The city is much smaller than most cities with equal population sizes but because it consists mostly out of high-rises it feels more spacious.

Nice render, that tower next to it looks like the Emirates Office Tower.

it is less dense than you thought i am afraid.
the roads in that area are all massive, with at least six lanes, some with a lane or two lanes' width in the middle of the road for trees.. and the pedestrian walks on a whole lane width ground as well.. so the roads normally have a width of 12m minimum.

It would be about time to move up. Been watching this one for ages and all I have seen for at least a year is a hole with minimal progress.

The sign translates as

"Shenzhen Ping'An Financial Center Engineering"
"Construction License Conferring Ceremony"

I tentatively agree with Charles54 that this is a ceremony commemorating the completion of this phase of the construction. Alternatively, it could just be a ceremony commemorating someone that has done a good job on the first phase of the project.

Well, the fact that there is still ceremonies means that it isn't on hold and that it is seen as an important project, hence we should see a lot of attention to this tower

Why do they still need licences so far into the construction?
