I think they have made the holes wider because so they can add concrete pouring cages on the super collumns. Also the fast core concrete looks above street level.

so for the supertall on the other side of the street no progress yet? still not even prep? also there were rumors the height of the smaller brother may have been increased to ~400m, yet they never came up again. does anyone have more information generally regarding that one?

No, so far there hasn't been any new movement on the other side of the street.

The building under construction next to Shanghai Tower is Oriental Financial Center. The "plot" next to Jinmao is reserved green belt and no skyscraper will be built there.

That's quite a photomerge there . I wish we'd have such a grand building in the US like that but of course, that's a totally different topic entirely.

Nice to see the crane jumped and the works continuing.

So the second hole is not for the shorter tower (well 400 m is not that short, but you get the picture),Then what is the 2nd hole for? I heard the 2nd tower will be about a quarter of a mile away,, is that accurate?
