Haha, that's precisely what I like about Ping An and some others! They are integrated in a highrise city concept.

The thing I don't like about Ping An's plot, is the side with CocoPark and residential highrises. It's a situation similar with Shanghai Tower: On one side of the street a megatall and on the other side a not really classy residential highrise. Towers like ST or Ping An should be surrounded by classy towers with at least 200m in height! Otherwise the skyline looks like cut off from a certain point of view.
Yep,you're right
but i get to tell you there's less reserve land in Futian CBD and Lujiazui for some more megatalls.
how do you define CBD,all office buildings,no residences?
dont know much more projects in shanghai though
in shenzhen,a new shenzhen-Hongkong economic zone called Water City is rising.
there's no residence in the area, all you can see are the skyscrapers and greens

No, doesn't have to be all office, but not those featureless residential highrises. Ping An's plot is somehow at the edge of the Futian cluster...it should be right in the center piece right in the middle.

Is this Water City the same thing as the Qianhai project?

i totally agree with you,the colourful residential highrises seem to be impossible to fuse with those glassy office towers.

yeh,it's qianhai city

Thanks for those detailed shots, DoubleU. I have to wonder if the locals know of this sleeping, slowly rising giant that is being created before them? From that first shot across the roads, that building on the far right seems to be at least 60 floors high. Pingan will surely dwarf that. Crazy.

I highly doubt that the locals know about it. If I talk to Chinese people (and foreigners as well) who are not working as engineers or are interested in buildings/construction they normally have no idea about what's going on construction wise in Shenzhen and at China in general.

It's true, in China most people don't really care about skyscraper construction in their city.

Some local guy in Shanghai once wanted to make me believe that IFC North Tower (it was still U/C at that time) and Shanghai Tower (still below ground) were the same project.

Is it that they're just poor, and uneducated, parts of China that do not realize these projects are going on, or even care that there going on. Some people just care about where there gonna get their next meal or bottle,,, Every country has their own class of really uneducated ppl who can't even read, or count, now that i look at IFC North tower, they couldn't be more different than a dog and a cat,,,not even close, maybe he was pulling your american leg

I love the design, kind of traditional thinking of the new supertall's designs, but with the CW it's just perfect

No, this guy wasn't uneducated or poor...just not well informed about constructions in his city.
I don't think that he was pulling my German leg. He probably just read somewhere about ST being U/C in Lujiazui. So at the sight of a construction site in Lujiazui he figured that it had to be ST.

No more steel plates will be mounted in the core above the first truss belt.
They just began to set pillars - without the plates.

it's not just china, pretty much everywhere people do not really know what buildings are going up, it is just more visible for us because china has the tall buildings. i don't think many people in germany know what the tallest building in their country is either or even in which city it stands. i can't blame them though, if people talk about sports or fashion i know as few as most people know about skyscrapers.
