Found this article in the paper "Daily Sunrise". Says 588 meters and 115 floors, and it looks like that golden design that most people here seem to favor.

588m, then add the spire and you get 646m.

the diagram is simply an image pulled off the net and plastered on that chart with Diwang next to it for scale. and i can't read all of the article, so the info i can offer is limited until my mandarin improves. at the least it seems like it'd be relatively simple to add the spire during construction

Just think, 10 years ago, people would have been like @!#$! Thats the tallest thing i've ever seen! It would have broken all kinds of records and been very famous. Now it's just like: Oh, another 2000 foot tower.

I honestly don't like its look very much, but the height makes it incredible regardless of its design.

Today's Shenzhen Daily:

In my opinion it will still b 646 meters. The 588 meters is the total height of the building without the spire. It is the size you can see on this early diagram posted by z0rg on January 10th.

And we know that PingAn doesn't want to look like racing for the tallest building in China, and don't want to be taken for too proud of themselves, so they're saying it's 588 meters high.

By the way I have always believed the true height of a building should never include the spire.

Some more renderings of the building without the spire. I kind of like it better w/o the spire:

It doesn't really look like the empire state building, but with or without spire, its better than the coca cola bottle.
