I decided to photoshop Ping An into Christchurch (or at least what's left of it) to see how dominating it would be. The result:

Fairly large!

I then decided to see how much Mother Nature dominates it, and ended up with this:

This is Aoraki/Mount Cook, the tallest mountain in NZ. I put Ping An near Mount Cook village (the actual village is behind the hill on the far right). Mount Cook towers 3km over that flat area!

Somehow these comparisons have made this building seem massive yet pathetic!
Actually, building tall towers beside huge mountains would be quite cool!

That was a massive crane jump,, seems like at least 5 floors,, is that a normal jump or is that the usual?

The frames that attach the crane to the building are about 5 floors apart, and I would assume that when the crane jumps, it would jump up that full distance, so probably not unusual.
