z0rg are you sure it is 646 mts .I personally doubt it and it would be irritating to later find out the building has been scaled down to 500 mts

It's either 646m with the spire or 588m without the spire. Many renders (the one in GB ceremony, in SZTV news, etc) have showed the tower without the spire. 588 in Chinese sounds a lot better than 646 too so it could be the spireless design.

I am sure 888 sounds even better in Chinese, but would they consider that.

Can you please translate 588 for me. From how i see it, its actually not a nice number even with the number eight etc. With the spire 646 isn't a good number if you add it together though.

588 could mean me rich rich XD, 5 and 8 are definitely the combination of numbers you want for your phone numbers.

Another guy got this...it is not recent but I do not think the design has been altered at this stage.

In Shenzhen people care less about this kind of matter I suppose, this should not be the only factor to determine the find height of a building...the city was founded 30 years ago, as the youngest megacity in the world, the culture is quite diverse and not so "traditional Chinese" compared to other cities in China

I'll try to take pictures this coming week end. The construction site is a big mess, many machines all around, lot of dirt, lot of workers.

So this is what the skyline will look like when it's complete. (the shorter tower is placed incorrectly, it should be on the left, not the right)
