BTW, SZ has really impressive skyline. IMO, it´s among 4 best in China, along with HK, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Shenzen seems to have several skylines, and if they keep building it will merge into one really huge one.

they do already share one metro line. they would have been already one city if it wasn't for mountains between the cities and the obvious political thing between Hong Kong and the Mainland. It cannot be one city if the residents of either side use different money and need visas to get to the other side of the river.

This is progressing quite fast! I wonder if the floorplates will catch up to the core before it tops out...

Officially they can´t become one city until 2047 bcoz HK is Special Administrative Region. HK and Mainland China are divided by something like an internal border.

yes, I know....but this is the political side...on the other side there is the real world...HK hast around 8 Mio Inhabitants...shenzen s.o. about 17 millions People...together this is 25 millions...more than Shanghai...
by the way hk has the most Skyscrapers in the world...(place 1 before NYC)...HK is probably the most extrem City concering Skyscrapers, because it is built in a very small surface...if it grows togehter with shenzen...this will the new metro-City of asia or the whole world...I am sure...

yes, thats right...hk and shenzen are sharing already the Metro...

by the way...I was 2009 the last time in HK...and I know nothing about that megacity in direct neighbourhood of HK...perhaps in the future u find a new Name for that Region/City...perhaps Metropolis...the development of shenzen and HK is really incredible...the economy grows nearly every year 8% and more

Is it possible to build a city where one half drives on the right and the other drives on the left? Nope.

I think they'd need to get rid of a bunch of big hills, too.
