And so did many who thought that it can't surpass 200 by 30th of September. When they hang a banner saying they are going to surpass 300 by this year, they will probably do it.

As long as weather permits them to have no down days; they will reach 300 meters before 1/1/14.

What is the distance between the core and the outer walls of the building? It looks no more than 15 meters?

Looking at those close-up pics, they really showing how relatively small the floor plates are. Really starting to wonder how economically efficient this building will be.

Do you see the guys hanging?? There is a lot more space that you think, as well I am sure the core will have usable space as well and wont just be elevators.

Not sure how many space there will be in the core beside the elevators. At 117 floors there probably will be alot of elevators i think. But not the whole core will be used for them i think

Same question I asked a few pages back. It really doesn't seem all that big other than core. Why not less floors, but make them bigger. For economic impact that is.

Yes, to me that's exactly what makes me agree with his question. It looks like its no more than 35 to 40 feet at most from the core to the outside steel.

Take a look at http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...#post106345424 some good details on the layout

Either way seems like a lot of floor space to me. Plus as stated the core has usable space and is not all elevators.

You can assume for high-rise buidlings that the core will usually take up 25-35% of the floor area.
In general:
Building width L,
core width L/2 => 25%

In the case of Pingan, as written before, with the assumption of a base of 70m and a core width of more than 30m (let's say 40m) the core area is 32%.
Plus, at upper floors they will reduce the wall thickness of the core (and the column size) and might cancel a few elevator shafts to get even more floor space. The core is mostly designed and occupied by the needs of MEP equipment (shafts for vertical pipes, A/C, water pumps, etc.). In addition you will have on every single floor restrooms, at least two seperate staircases, a room to collect garbage, maybe a kitchen/pantry, fire/service elevator etc. That all adds up.

If the core doesn't hit 300 meter by January 1st, at least some of the rebar will.

Not all elevators will probably go to the top. This means that in the higher sections of the core more space becomes available for offices.
