I second that. This in downtown and CTF Guangzhou in Midtown.

such big office towers would be on hold in new york for a long time looking at two WTC so we are lucky they rise here instead. i also do think shenzhen deserves this beauty of a tower, afterall it gets far too few 400m buildings off the ground

This building in a sense is a symbol of the future for that reason it would look out of place in NYC or a lot of other places for that matter.

Having said that it's my favourite U/C building blessed we are for having such a forum to indulge ourselves.

I think there will be another (silver coloured?) layer on top of this.

You can see the actual cladding leaking under the protection foil. It looks pretty shiny

I don't think the black part will be in the finished product. We need to wait until it truly starts going up to be able to judge it.

I think some black cladding elements would actually look cool. But I agree, I don't think that will be part of the final product.

I ain't an expert but to me the black layer looks like some kind of under-coating, perhaps isolation, water proofing, or similar.

Yeah but the height is what most are in awe of, just imagine this BEAST in midtown, towering over ESB, 432 Park, and Nordstrom, would make Chrysler look like "Proportionately" like a shed compared to a house.

I believe the black cladding is final, as seen in this multiple view rendering. It is clearly seen in the bottom right view. Though it may not look as black in the rendering because it is only a rendering. It should continue up the building from the bottom to one floor underneath the large mech floor, where the super column reconfiguration starts.

Okay, I see. I've no doubt the tower will end up looking good either way.
