I am still sure it'll have the spire anyway. You can even see it in this render as I said in my prev post

This does not show any spire whatsoever Z0rg but a small protrusion . Even the picture posted by Yannsz clearly shows that there is no spire . Also barbaric was telling me yesterday that this is old news and the new height is revised to 577 metres.

They shouldn't have released a render with a spire if they weren't going to end up having one.

Forget the spire, I would like to know if the South (lower) Tower is getting built. I'm very doubtful, and I think it should be removed from the title.

Well because it's some unknown developers and designers building a 2,000+ foot tower in a lesser known city in China. I'm plenty skeptical as well.

I respectfully disagree. For many reasons. I have to agree with z0rg.

Because I'm not seeing it in the newer renders (ones that show the bigger tower both with and without the spire). Maybe it won't be started until the bigger building is completed? Who knows.

Then what about these models that were erected alongside the construction site?

I think the cost of erecting a 70 metre spire was initially underestimated .It might look cheap but actually erecting spires of such length on top of such huge structures is not really cheap . Even during the construction of Guangzhou tv tower . Even there the engineers saw problems with erecting a 100 meter spire on top of a 450 mt structure.. So there is a real chance that actually the guys at Pigan decided to drop the spire as it really adds nothing to the building but to just get it into the record books .Which Wuhan is anyway all set to break .

Hard as putting and secure a gigant steel structure on a building hundreds of meters high.

ex:
Burj Dubai Spire ~ 350 tonnes
Taipei101 Spire ~150 tonnes

Not so easy as we think. And this spire look wery thick...
