Realistically, when would the building top out?

The core will top out around October. Then who knows how long they will take to put up the spire.

Impressive skyline. And still quite a few supertalls coming.

Just curious, what is the elevation of those mountains behind the city? Or the height that that cone-shaped (maybe observatory) on top of the mountain is at? Always neat to compare things...

That has to be Wutong Mountain (Wutong Shan 梧桐山). It's the highest peak in SZ at 944 meters above sea level. I'm actually planning to climb that mothaphukka in October during my next visit to Shenzhen.

I think you will find that many things have changed in Shenzhen since your visit last year. What major changes are you looking for personally?

I don't think there will be many changes this time. The only major one should be the T3 of SZX airport which I will have to visit just to have a glimpse. No new metro lines, no new train stations. Only one supertall topped out and one progressed quite a bit.

Hmm. I hope you shoot some skyline shots like this (with better exposure of course :p ). Please try figure out the location from where this photo was shot if possible, it's the best vantage point to take a skyline shot of Shenzhen imo

That photo is actually pretty good given the likely distance. You're talking about a night shot, at least 2 miles away from Futian. If a better quality picture was needed, you'd need some pretty good gadgets! IMO It looks like it was taken from the Heung Kong tower.... Which is in Houhai... I say this because the little residential blocks on the bottom of the photo are in the direct line of sight from Heung Kong tower if you go on google earth, and the photographer seems to be eye level with east pacific center tower A which is 300+m. Heung Kong is the only building in Houhai with that height right now...

Heung Kong Tower is about 13km away from Futian. And about 17km away from KK100 and Shun Hing Square. Angle (checked on Google Earth) suggests that the photo was indeed taken from Heung Kong Tower.
