So it is now 4th highest in the world after BK, Shanghai Tower and the Mecca Clock Tower.

Not very long and the core will be topped out, amazing how fast this has risen!

In my opinion there is no way this lower column cladding will remain like this. It just does not make sense even in the "cleaning/maintaining" process, this would represent as many dust nests as there are horizontal beams. I'm not sure if I'm clear.

This could be a surprise element? like LED TV panels or something like this, making something more versatile. For me this cladding is meant to hold something else on top of it.

I really hope you are right, Yann. Even if it isn't alumuinium, just any worthy material would be fine. Anything except this rubbish...
It too was my initial thought that this stuff is just some kind of pre-cladding, but after all we have seen so far I became really pessimistic.
Given they will actually cover this stuff, why wouldn't they install the final material when the panels were still on the ground? That sounds a hundred times easier than doing this in a height of up to 120 meters.
Could it be that the developer himself did not decide at this time what they will do? Are they trying to cut some costs or are they unsure about the materials they could use? Time will tell...

I remember we had a forumer who claimed to be an insider involved into the Ping'an south tower. It would be interesting to hear if he knows anything about the main tower and the truth about te grey cladding...!

Could it simply be glass panels? That would make sense.

That would be a good explanation! Putting on glass panels at this stage of the construction process would be dangerous by exposing the glass to falling objects.

Yes, thanks. In about a month, Ping An should be above that and can then be 4th... until it passes 3rd and second to stand alone in second after BK.

And for the rest of 99.(9)% of the buildings which use glass windows cladding only is not dangerous at this stage ? Not to mention that the construction site is few tens of meters away from densely occupied areas including several bars and terraces from coco park. I know they installed a protection raft over but if there would be any fallen object we would see scenes depicted from movies like Final destination and alike.

Best photo of this tower yet. The cladding looks superb from far distance.

So the core will still get a height increase bigger than the tallest building in my city...

This thing is absurdly tall.
