Actually, they've built enough that you can see the taper. I don't know that it needs the hypodermic point on top. Unless the television broadcasters want it.

No, they just don't need 4 cranes anymore. For the crown + spire they'll use max. 2 cranes.

Shenzhen's air routes are a bit unique due to the proximity of its airport to Hong Kong. All flights departing southwards needs to make an eastwards 90-degree turn at minimum upon take-off to avoid hitting Hong Kong airspace. Logically, this would make Futian district (where this building is U/C) part of the normal air route.

It's quite incredible,, and I think it would look just as nice without a spire.. If Shenzhen Ping An's roof is 600 meters,, I'm sure they could ask for 2 more meters, it would put them just above the (3rd tallest),, Mecca clock tower's crescent moon!
