Some people have such a sad life that a major source of enjoyment for them is writing condescending posts on a skyscraper forum. Just pathetic.

i am right, you all are wrong, deal with it.
then answer, why would they credit the company who specializes in satellite imagery in the most zoomed in image? Is it because you're right and we're all wrong?

You still haven't answered my question, you just quoted the websites. The image I was referring to is credited to Digital Globe only. Can you say and prove that it is an aerial photograph or an image from a satellite? Until you can prove that it's not a satellite image, I'll just keep my belief and ignore any further comments.
PS this is one of the most ridiculous arguments ever. From a plane (or whatever) or from a satellite, they're both from the sky! I refuse to make a big deal out of nothing.

The new imagery covers an area 14km wide by 116km long. The angles of the buildings are consistent across that area too (all pointing north and very slightly west). All the shadows are the same (to the north west), and the imagery is extremely consistent across the whole area.
That is FAR too big an area to be consistently done by an aircraft, so I am very sure that this is satellite imagery, and not aerial photography.

Digital Globe's WorldView-3 satellite is capable of 31cm resolution imagery. It was launched 4 1/2 months before these images were taken (1 January 2015), and 2 months before the images before that (12 October 2014), so it is not surprising that we are seeing new imagery like this now. More evidence that it is indeed satellite imagery is the fact that the shadows in both of these images are in the same direction, consistent with a sun synchronous orbit.

And one extra bit of confirmation, according to the Worldview-3 spec sheet, the images are taken in strips 112km by 13.1km, which is pretty much the same as what I can see in Google Earth.

So these images are definitely satellite images, they were taken by Worldview-3, and they are awesome!

Any word on the night time lighting scheme yet?

It would be very cool if there is some "tribute in light" type of display that directs a beam skyward from the crown, through the space where the pinnacle spire would have been.

Please. Neither the architects nor the CTBUH have changed their data and do still display the tower as 660m with spire on their websites. There's still no valid reason to assume the spire won't be build.

I found some Informationen about the light instalation:

Quote:
The Ping 'An tower, being built in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, will be the 3rd tallest building in the world. For the construction, which is to be finished by 2016, both Local and international companies are being asked to contribute.

In order to enable the different lighting designs for the tower, I was asked to design a small spotlight of which over 3000 would be used to accent the upper third of the tower. The small spotlight, designed to fit into the Cooper Lighting catalogue, is mounted in rows behind sheet metal housings and provides the building's architects with full RGB control at a low price per unit.
The pictures doesn`t work so please use the link above.

I saw it as if it was sprouting from a Highrise, like a huge snake shedding its old skin.

R_g I do not disagree with you, you're wrong these pictures are all made from space
NASA satellite Landsat 7 if you do not believe there is significant proof here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landsat_7

Largest parts of the earth surface displayed on web mapping services like Google Maps/Google Earth, MSN Maps or Yahoo Maps are based on enhanced and color balanced Landsat 7 imagery.
