I would have appreciated the previous blue cladding also but i like it that way too.
And the spire...i think this will be overvalued.
The Empire State building would not be the Empire State Building without the mast at the top right? The Chrysler Building would not be the icon it is without the spire. Not easy to recognize and admit but a spire can indeed make or break a building.

I've even noticed looking at old pictures that the Empire State building doesn't look the same without having the radio towers that extend even beyond the spire. Honestly I think it looks better now. I know this isn't helping to ease the pain.

For sure there are buildings like your examples i agree with. But in this case i think it's different...we will see in about 10 years or so which reputation it has...

Yes, in Germany the construction would have been delayed years and only commenced after the situation was clear. Luckily china is growing too fast so that delays like that are too costly for everyone involved. Still hope the spire thing will be made an exception though.

If everything goes well, it might not even be the tallest building in the city anymore. Shenzhen may at one point get more global recognition, not in the scale Dubai did though. Single buildings will still stay unknown and this area might nit become the icon of the city. After all it is only one tall tower and other areas of the city might lead to a more iconic skyline. Might still be a personal favorite though

Guess you would take a 600m tower in Cologne even with no spire...

no i wouldn't. Not in cologne because the cathedral is more beautiful in my eyes than any supertall building. But in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg or especially Frankfurt everytime.

Do you have proof the spire was cut Mahdi? Or are you just talking out of your butt?

it is better to just believe the spire is cut and then be happy, if it acutually is not, then be devastated if the cranes comes down prematurely. this is a pascal's wager that actually makes sense, because both options seem realistic. if you believe the spire is cut now and accept it, you will can only win and not be disappointed.
