I don't know exactly whether this render shows the old 660m version or the new decreased one. Seems to be the first one...
Here's the source:

In any case it's very interesting and as far as i know never postet before

the decreased design looks like about this. you liked this post, but maybe you forgot it, so here it is again. It's not a decreased height of the whole building, but more like a cutting of the spire situation.

That`s true i like it more without a spire. More and more when i take a look at the bigger crown render above when i cut the spire there in my mind of

To me it still looks like a decapitation.

As fan of this supertall. I must concede , more than the decapitation of the spire. What now troubles me more is how bland the cladding looks.

I think the original designs showed a much more flamboyant cladding deserving of the tallest building in Greater China( gold or otherwise ).

I am scared when i look at what is happening on other 500m+ towers in China.Without the spire this might end up getting called a giant commie bloc 20 years hence.

That´s what I said a year ago. Original cladding looked fantastic, but this one is really boring. This project disappointed me more than Sky city. With original design of Pingan, Shenzhen would be more interesting than Shanghai. Dream is over, shit tower stands.

The spire!, to be or not to be?, who cares!!!, most developers seem to be using them as a way to artificially boost the final height statistics on high builds.

I still like it more than Shanghai tower yet Shanghai is my fav city in the world and yet Ping An looks as if doesn't belong to the surroundings.

Everyone have is own taste... I prefer this more conservative cladding than the old glitzy golden one.

Does anybody know, why some supercolums are almost poured to the top and others left 20 floors behind? I mean, two or three months ago, the all were nearly at the same height. It seems like they have stopped the pouring on some supercolums since then.

The curtain wall also hasn't seemed to have moved for a couple weeks now, at least. Any hold on construction?

Who knows?! Just wait, maybe in 50-60 years the cladding can be replaced and they'll go with the old gold style since plain metal and aluminum would've had it's phase in the architectural space for cladding choice. Sure it's not what's on the default building but who knows? All kidding aside, maybe we'll see another project in the future with a gold / clear or blueish façade choice.

I am honestly skeptical if Gold cladding would be great but the current cladding is certainly boring. There are so many supertalls all over china going up with very interesting looking claddings and none have gold on them
