By the way the curtain wall did not stop for couple of weeks, it has stopped only for the past 3 days.

I think i belong to the few people who actually like the cladding lol. Its straight-forward, modern, slightly elegant and timeless. I'm afraid that a gold cladding would have the risk of looking tacky and cheesy in the end.

Anyway, I'm sure that if they clean the cladding from the dust it will look better/shinier than now

Who knows;

It's hard to know without all of the cladding going up. It may turn out just fine, and that the partial cladding is throwing the aesthetic perception of most people off. So we should just wait patiently for a few more months until the cladding is complete.

I think the same. Furthermore i can remember the time when they start with the cladding. Almost every post was like "awesome cladding...etc..."
I have the feeling when the discussion about cutting off the spire began a lot of people changed the sides and suddenly the building wasn't awesome anymore. Before this i can't remember so much negative statements about other details like the facade, the black parts of it and so on.
Either the critics doesn't had the courage before the hight decrease to say what they think or with more and more progress more and more people were unsatisfied with the results.
I still think it's an awesome piece of modern supertall architecture not perfect, but a building with a unique facade and a shape that's different from so many other boxy buildings.

Honestly i think a minority is a fan of gold cladding. Having a 600 m + building all in gold doesn't just sound tacky but is tacky.

I think the one aspect many forumers realised as the construction was going on was that the cladding is just too bland. I mean look at the cladding's of any other supertalls going up in China. Quite certainly ping-an is very bland when compared to them and lacks any punch in how the surface of the building shines on you. I understand the need for simplicity infact i am big proponent of minimalistic design but this cladding just misses that as well with all the lines and crosses all over its body.

So it can never gain its beauty from a minimalist attire. Neither is the cladding flashy enough to stand out. The only thing that stands out about this building is how much taller it is when compared to all the surrounding buildings.

I guess in the long run it wont matter as the Chinese would certainly light it up like a Christmas tree once it is done whether with a spire or without a spire but then again i cant accept that the cladding is good because it simply isn't

Gold would look bad or bad in a few years after tastes change.

I think I belong to even less people that like the building with no spire.

If they don't mess up the crown, it could look better than the stick on top.

True, I see cladding moving again now. Sorry it probably just felt longer than it really is . But we can see the top is concreting well now. Should see how it's capped soon enough.

I too don't mind the cladding. I'd have preferred gold but again something like that tends to have to be done in a correct way to, as was said, not be too tacky. It's certainly a uniquely oriented building in terms of how the cladding works with the structural trusses. Not necessarily bland, but unique.

Shenzhen is like a melting pot for China. People from different provinces with different dialects came here regardless of the wealth, backgrounds. Been born and raised in Shenzhen, I can tell you this city is truly unique and gorgeous. My parents who migrated from inner provinces to Shenzhen as well as millions of Shenzhen citizens all felt really fortunate.

What do you really call a person from Shenzen, by the way? Shenzenite?
